It all boils down to what Reagan did in 1988 bowing to pressure from the right: "Abolishing the Fairness Doctrine". This allowed channels like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh to exist. Ninety two percent (92%) of radio talk show hosts are right wing persuasion. Public airwaves belong to the public and the fairness doctrine must be restored. Insist that the presidential candidates promise to restore the fairness doctrine and to bust the 5 media monopolies which control our thought process.

You might want to consider just how much the arguement against "gay marriage" reflect those still used against interraical marriage...

The big "missing factor" is that what people report in a survey is often different than how they actually feel - they respond in socially correct ways - research presenting in-depth interviews shows a much less accepting white public - especially if the question concerns their children bringing a partner of a different race home.

And by the way, for the guy who thinks people's actions are all about individual preferences and have nothing to do with social forces (legal or otherwise) think again . . . it's not picking on anyone, it's reality.

Marriage is between two people not the state, it is up to them whether or not they approve of loving one another. The views of others are quite irrelevant even the gallup poll. People do whatever they want to anyway and always have. Might want to do a poll on how many interracial marriages that they are in the United Staes. And not just black and white, stop picking on us!

So Democrats and Republicans are equally in favor of interracial marriage -- it's interesting, but what's missing is WHY people are opposed to it. I wonder if the values behind the opinions were pulsed, or just the opinions themselves. I have a hunch that the Democrats who oppose interracial marriage do so for different reasons than Republicans do ...
