As if this Bush "Justice" Department wasn't wrong on enough things, let's add another to the list: Net Neutrality. Yesterday they came out in support of big TelCos by telling the FCC that Internet service providers should be allowed to charge extra for priority Web traffic.
Net Neutrality means an equal Internet for everyone. It means an Internet that does not discriminate or differentiate the Internet experience between those who pay a lot and those who pay a little. It's an issue of rights & access to the Internet, which from it's inception was meant to be equally available to everyone.
In the typical neo-conservative way, the Bush DoJ has said that they only want those with the most money to have a good experience. That's kinda like how they only want rich people's votes and issues to matter; they only want high-paying customer's Internet to be better than mine.
So what do we do? Go to Save The Internet's Action Page and do something! I'd also add to their list contacting the FCC Commissioners via email.
Discrimination is ugly everywhere it pops up. Let's stomp it out in the technology arena too.
