The majority of people who don't want gays and lesbians to serve in the military are those outside of the military. These people want the government to shot itself in the foot yet again, and, in these particular cases, depriving the nation of desperately needed language specialists. How many of them can speak Arabic and are willing to step up to the plate? You know the answer as well as I; none.

What these "bone heads" don't understand is that this war is a mess. It's a mess, because it was perpetrated by people following an ideology and motivated by their personal greed. Right now the country needs all the expert help it can get. "Expert help" is something it's been lacking from the beginning. The ideological stooges, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld, who from the beginning wouldn't listen to any of the Generals are prime examples of this.

These people are also ignorant of history and the great armies of the past, that conquered the then known world.

I just have to send my condolences to all the military personell both gay and straight. It must be awfully sad to serve a country that claims to fight for 'freedom' and 'human rights' and world peace ... yet is essentially quite the opposite. I sum this up by saying each and everyday .. "Thank god I am Canadian"

They used to say the same thing about soldiers of color... that the white soldier wouldn't serve next to a soldier of color. What they found out was that ALL blood is red and when you are in stressful situations nobody looks at the color of your skin... and nobody cares if the person next to you who is saving your life loves someone of the same sex. These (old) politicians are out-of-touch with the under thirty set who are much more accepting of alternate sexualities.

As a fag I have never believed that fags should even want to participate in an organization that has never appreciated nor wanted our contribution to this country! With that said, I am vehemently oppossed to the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. I was unnerved and felt betrayed when former President Clinton accepted this legislature, as I worked on his first campaign--one reason why I did not volunteer on his second campaign--and strongly believe that if my fellow gay men and women WANT to join, then they should be allowed to as citizens of the United States of America!!

i wonder if firing "gays" is more important than firing or prosecuting those who don't adhere to the geneva conventions relating to treatment of captured civilians suspected of being collaborators of insurgents......which is more harmfull to the u.s army's image nand credability.......!! if it still has any left....
