This video really upset me. There was no reason he should have been tazered. I am currently working on my master in Criminal Justice, and seeing this further reminds me what a mess our CJ system is. Freedom of speech is a fundamental right in the U.S... I do not necessarily object to the cops getting involved since he was getting fired up, but the use of a tazer is appalling. Someone made a very good point-why was a tazer used with 5 police officers against one person?

Eric, I think 5 grown men should be able to restrain a student without a taser, Asp or PR-24. Your thought process does not indicate that you are an educated person. Perhaps going back to school or shock therapy would help. As for Scott whats your excuse for being an A**?

Since when did the right to free speech give people the right to be an a** in public. I am a veteran of the war in Iraq, and I certainly did not enlist to protect this guys right to be a jerk. At sometime we as a country, have to stand up and say that the right to free speech comes with the responsibilty to exercise it with some class. If you can't do that, you don't deserve the right to free speech.

The guy was NOT tazered for yelling. The guy was tazered because he was swinging his arms wildly as they tried to escort him out, broke free from them several times and in general DID in fact pose a threat to the officers. Yes they had him on the ground, but they had to get him up OFF the ground to get him out, and he would have started swinging again, possibly injuring one of the officers.

He was asked to leave as any disruptive audience member would have been. THAT is why the audience was clapping, because he was disrupting their chance to ask Senator Kerry real questions.

And listen to his ranting: "They're going to kill me! People know I'm here!" I seriously wouldn't be surprised if this was staged from the beginning by this guy. That he would get up and disrupt the proceedings, resist and be subdued on tape to "prove" that we live in a police state.

While I do think there is scary stuff going on and we are headed down the wrong path, this is not an example of it, merely a distraction from the real problem with our country.

What the hell did this kid do to instigate such a brutal response? I am a veteran of the US Army Infantry. I have been over seas and have seen life in countries where freedom does not exist. Why are we on the fast road to a nazi like state? I do not agree with the politics and frankly what was being said is not my concern. My concern is that this kids right to freedom of speach was completely subdued and hindered. The cops had him on the ground and should have easily been able to cuff him (although they had no grounds for the arrest in the first place) without using a tazer. He posed no threat to them and I dont think it is legal to tazer someone for YELLING!!!!

Aaron, Where did you go to school, I have my MBA from the University of South Florida, and I am a cop. The officers did the job without harming the the little punk. Would it have been better for the officers use a Asp or a PR24?

This kid is a freaking moron. You want to talk about freedom speech, what about the students behind him? What about their freedom to ask questions when you have a moron trying to be funny for his website? He was asked to leave politely to leave by school administrators and officers. When he refused they dragged him. They warned him to cooperate or they would use the taser on him. He knew they would use it and still he did not cooperate. Why did he not just cooperate? Then they finally used it like he did not have warning. Dumb@$$ Everyone blames cops of this and that why the world is all screwy before you put blame on people look at yourself in the mirror and fix yourself, family then the country!

Most cops are just glorified high school dropouts.

UPDATE: Two University of Florida police officers have been placed on leave with pay after using an electronic stun gun to subdue a student who was questioning Sen. John Kerry at a campus forum, the school's president said Tuesday.

The Florida Division of Law Enforcement will investigate Monday's arrest of student Andrew Meyer, said J. Bernard Machen. Machen called the incident "regretful for us."

"The thing that I regret is that civil dialogue and civil discourse did not happen," Machen said. "That's fundamental to a university campus. Why it didn't happen is what we're trying to sort out."

This kid did NOTHING to deserve being taserd or even carried away. He simply asked some serious and justifiable questions. The police did NOT need to get involved in this matter, no threat to the peace was made. I AM APPAULLED that NO ONE in the auditorium helped him when he was being wrestled by those cops AND THEN TAZERED! Being tazered CAN KILL YOU!

This all leads to one conclusion....This video MUST GO on UTUBE! and Action must be taken against these police officers.
