Now while I hardly ever agree with what Billo has to say, this time he does speak some sense. If this student wanted answers he wouldn't have kept bombarding Kerry with questions and would have let him asnwer them.

And with his attitude, he seemed to have actually wanted to make a big spectacle of himself. Now since he was handcuffed they really didn't need to taser him, but you could sense in his voice that even though he said he didn't want to be tasered, he wanted it badly so as to make him a victim.

it was completely ridiculous that he was actually arrested for talking too much. no one has to like his loud mouth, but he was exercising his constitutional rights, so he had every right to ask as many questions as possible in the smallest amount of time. and when he was tazed, he was resisting arrest, so he kinda deserved that. even though it was a bit extreme.

people shouldn't be afraid to exercise their constitutional rights, just because they're afraid of what the police or government will do to them. i don't think the founding fathers created this country just so people will be lied to by the news, tricked by the government, or afraid to say that they can stand up for what they believe, no matter what it is. this is America, land of the free.

What is he being arrested for? Disrupting the peace? That is bullshit and you know it! He was asking a question at a Q&A session, and though he got way too carried away to the point where he was grandstanding instead of actually wanting an answer, that is par for the course. Any speaker who is the least bit political is likely to get some hostile questions designed to make them look stupid or immoral or whatever. It's par for the course.

Now, I'd like you to imagine a hypothetical situation. Imagine you (and here I assume that you all would identify as conservatives) go to...let's say an event where Barack Obama is speaking on a college campus. You get up during the Q&A part of the program, go up to the mic, and ask Sen. Obama "Why do you hate America?"
Except you get carried away, and begin grandstanding, trying to demonstrate to all of the people around you your ultimate contempt for this man, phrased in a series of contemptuous questions. Eventually you begin to get excited, and imply that Obama is a member of a worldwide Muslim conspiracy, and suddenly a bunch of campus security come up and grab you, hauling you out bodily as Senator Obama attempts to do his best to answer your many questions. You, as you feel that there's no reason for the police to arrest you, struggle bodily to get away, and demand to be released. They push you to the floor and tell you to stop resisting as they put on your handcuffs or you will be tased. You frantically ask not to be tased, and even offer to leave peacably if they let you go. They tase you anyways.

Now, is that freedom of speech? In ANY universe, is that how things should go? Well, that is exactly what happened at this event.

Maybe it's because I myself am a college student, or because increasingly I find myself distrusting that the police have my best interests at heart, or even a commitment to keep the peace, but this shit feels me with nothing but rage and contempt for the police or campus security officers who decided that this was in ANY way acceptable, for Mr. O'Reilly for his insulting misrepresentation of Meyer (and I believe that Mr. O'Reilly is in fact a huge wimp for admitting that he intentionally avoids campus speeches like this one because he doesn't want to deal with critics), and for Ms. Wiehl for implying that Meyer was attempting to assasinate Kerry or whatever.
