Randi, many thing that everyone here has quoted is in large part very true, albeit always with a personal slant attached. I have noticed that it appears that from that very slant and the places some of the comments are coming from, we are experiencing a terrorist attack via blog and news contraversy, spreading anger and dissent between factions even more so than the U.S. media. Americans for the most part, spoiled yes, are watching the country going from being virtually economically solvent after Bill Clinton(Rhodes Scholar Smart), purchased all the debtor paper back from the rich that we were paying only interest on, never principal, by putting the country on a strict economic diet and the government actually began creating prosperity at all levels of society. Now after lo' these many short years that economic boon has been filtered into the pockets of a tight knit group of very rich people and the country is again at the mercy of the rich and foreign entities. I think that is what Americans are really afraid of, that potential loss of all those things you have mentioned. We can only hope that we can get some truly intelligent, caring(for all America), people in office we are going to continue to suffer from fools. Of course I am not an authority on very much and far be it from me to claim expert status on anything, but I do believe I have a modicum of good sense so I feel confident to make these statements. My point was that you have to remeber how the parties changed...what used to be southern democrats lobbying against civil rights is now the sounthern republicans lobbying against civil rights. If you want to argue that democrats did not enact our current civil rights legislation, go ahead...you know the truth. Let's allow the banks to offer similarly qualified minorities interest rates up to 5 points higher than white counterparts.
