What is going on in Burma is nothing short of horrifying.

Please watch this video and do what you can to help--sign petitions, attend rallies, demand action.

There is no oil in Burma that I am aware of, so I have zero faith we'll do anything (and we have so squandered good will around the world, that nobody would probably listen even if we tried).

Remember, when it is the Iraqi people, we want to "protect them from a madman" as one of our 18 stated reasons for going in, but we've done nothing in Darfur. I am sure Burma will be much the same, as the Bush Administration only cares about those people who happen to be located in places that can make their venal corporate benefactors even fatter and happier than they already are.

Please, do what you can to get involved and save the people of Burma. 

UPDATE: As the ever-briliant Gottlaff has pointed out, it turns out there is oil and natural gas there. My bad. But I guess my reasoning is still sound, as we get our hands on it by playing ball with the murderers in this case. Great.
