I like this site. I'm joining. I am also going to place a letter I wrote to a newspaper in Calif. regarding an article written by Bill O'Reilly. I was surprised that the editor said he would post it in a few days.
Here is the letter and I encourage all of you to continue with your creative energies.
I am asking your newspaper for an opportunity to respond to Bill O’Reilly’s statements in his article “Military is disrespected at every turn in the age of political correctness.”
Mr. O’Reilly you make your statements, then attempt to wrap up your article by saying; “We Americans are asking our military to protect us from vicious terrorists who murder at will…
Please don’t speak for me Mr. O’Reilly. I and many others did not ask our military to go to Iraq for protection from terrorists.
The strategic terrorists who took down the Trade Towers received their flight training here on U.S. soil. Osama bin Laden is from Saudi Arabia not Iraq.
Fearful people like yourself and George Bush made the decision to go to Iraq believing that it was somehow the enemy. My military whom I care a great deal about is not over there to protect me because of the plain and simple fact that Iraq never attacked my country. I repeat, Iraq never attacked my country.
You and other people who call themselves moral may believe that you are doing a good thing over there because you think Iraq needs to have a Democracy. However, more than 200,000 people in Iraq are now dead because of your so called good intentions.
I and many others have no intentions of bringing Democracy to Iraq. Iraq had a Parliamentary Democracy in the 1950’s and their persistent Tribal warring which they have done for centuries, got rid of it. So that’s their business, not yours, not mine.
You Mr. O’Reilly and George Bush have disrespected the Troops of my Country by sending them over to Iraq to handle your agendas. Whether it be fear of Terrorists or Oil or Democracy it makes no difference. Our Troops are only to be used for the self-defense of our nation. First Strike is not self defense, to believe otherwise is to believe in a Lie.
Bill O’Reilly you are far from having any validity as a moral advisor and I see no wisdom in your opinions. I and many others seriously doubt that you are even aware of what is respectful or disrespectful. You have given your acquiescence to a war destroying hundreds of thousands of people.
No one should accept advice or opinions from a person like that.
It is people like you and George Bush who have disrespected the Troops that, We the People love. The Troops have done their duties faithfully, you have not. The blood of all of the thousands of dead people over there is on your hands and the people who agreed with you and George Bush. You and Mr. Bush are a dark cloud over the earth and our country.
