There are statewide elections in Virginia tomorrow, where, shocker, Republicans are expected to lose seats in the state house and state senate. So for right-wing politicians this is the gay marriage, partial-birth abortion or affirmative action of this election cycle, i.e. the way to misdirect people through shiny social wedge issues so that they don't pay attention to how much Republicans, for lack of a better word, suck at governing.

How can we be sure this is actually the case?
What sort of signs need we watch for?
