I applaud your film "Iraq for Sale". Because you seem to be concerned with the message, more than the profit I purchased 5 copies. I feel that is reasonable, even though I can dub all the free copies I want at home on my DVR, I won’t because I would like to also support this cause. And I plan to make sure everyone I can talk into watching it does. That said, I noticed there are an extreme number of points against the republican party on your web site. A little advice here. Republicans are not in charge of the house or senate. Several bills have been brought up to reduce and curb this theft of America by contractors since the democrats have been in power but they have ALL been rejected. Don’t forget that Mr. Clinton equally raped this country via China agreements, etc. This process has long history by both parties. I am not proud to say I am a republican, but I AM proud to say I am a conservative. The "roots" of the true republican party simply state that you feel you can spend your tax dollars better than the government can. I believe in that philosophy and I also believe as long as we perpetuate the "us against them" fight, America will suffer. As long as one "party" or the other is in power, it will ALWAYS be business as usual. Bill O'Reiley for example brought CNN to it's knees and forced them to finally hire hard hitting people like Lou Dobbs to ask real questions and give real feedback. Now, CNN's ratings are coming back and that doesn’t hurt my feelings a bit, even though I wouldn’t have watched their slanted one sided news for anything a few years ago. I will now.
When we "hold the party line", we simply keep the flames of this disease alive for America. I am a federal DOD employee and I can say first hand that much of what is said in the film is so very true. I am very ashamed every time a fellow employee retires and goes to work for a contractor. I can do nothing about the fact that this system has come into being. And with 7 years to go, I will stay with the NAVY until I can retire (I'd be foolish not to at this point). But I can at least protest the system by not becoming a part of the problem after I retire. In my mind, it becomes a case of simple greed for many of these federal DOD employees who should have though about cutting back, saving for retirement, etc. years ago. And if they did, they should have been happy with that retirement and let new blood come behind them and fill government positions, rather than displace a new employee who needs the job.
Being a federal employee is bitter sweet. On one hand, we do get our tax dollars back. On the other, we see first hand how they are wasted. If that won’t convince anyone to become more conservative, nothing will. My advise to you as an organization would be to recognize and praise those who wish to stop foolish spending. And protest and bring attention to those who vote to do so. Yes, Dick Cheney is a greedy, sick in my mind opportunist. I personally do not know how a man like that can sleep at night. But by the same token, so is Hillary Clinton for example, who Is in the top ten place mark spenders in the senate. Lets really do America some good by bringing focus to the individual, rather than the party and I will hope for change. Thanks again for the huge effort and dirt digging on this wonderful documentary. Very well done.
