A few things here. First of all, it is such a pathetic attempt to subliminally reach people by projecting himself into the role that Martin Sheen played on The West Wing.
The problems are that 1) Martin Sheen was a liberal and competent President 2) Fred Thompson has no ideas and needs a golf cart to get around.
Also, the ad is for Bob Latta. He's the guy tied to the most corrupt members of the Ohio GOP who is trying to hold a Republican seat in a deep red district here--on Tuesday--and right now chances are even he'll lose.
What's cool is I know when Thompson cut this ad. He was in Columbus yesterday morning, and then went up to Cleveland. The kind folks at Ohio News Network came by to interview me about my take on Thompson's being in our fair state. And then those crazy old birds put it on Cleveland and Columbus TV.
We are in the process of YouTubing the clip right now and I'll have it up tomorrow or Monday.
Spoiler Alert: I didn't say nice things about Grandpa Fred.
P.S. The West Wing people should threaten to sue him for what is very clearly a copyright infringement.
Unfortunately, Liberal's are only good at playing.
This fact must be attritutable to their constant state of denial...always skirting the fringe of reality yet not daring to step into it.
Where Fred was always asked to play the leader roles that fit who he is, Sheen on the other hand merely reshapes whatever reality is held by someone else. Borrowing a combination of several for when the camera isn't rolling.
Remember Cliff; Children who are not liberal need a heart yet, adults who are not conservative need a brain...BTW, when will you grow up??
