Andy, Soros is a progressive. He came from refugee stock, he has made the effort to see and understand what happens to societies which do not have open institutions. This is not inconsistent with taking advantage of the ludicrous moods of the international capital markets, and then allocating much of those gains to more worthy causes - such as supporting the development of open institutions...And what would you do if a swarm of giant indestructible pyranha bees was released on downtown Tulsa, or if mongol hordes landed at Provincetown and forced all the women to wear burquas, or if you've got this guy and he says "I won't tell you anything until you stop hitting me"
