I told you the media could get worse. Today, it took a big dive down into the bowels of corporate media domination. This morning, FCC Chair Kevin Martin's crown jewel was approved, as the FCC changed the "media ownership rules." Allow me to translate: "changed media ownership rules" means less:
- Local media
- Ethnic media
- Woman-owned media
Funny, because that lines up nicely with 3 things that necons really, really really hate:
- Local/small business (They like multi-national corporations)
- Black, Hispanic, and any other non-white people (White is right!)
- Women (Well, they like looking at them, but they'd never actually want them to have power)
Free Press gets it right in their response:
With these new rules, there is no doubt that the ownership diversity crisis will get worse as these companies cash in on consolidation. Expect more newsroom layoffs and less quality news coming soon to a city near you.
This is about more than discrimination, it's about jobs: good, local, jobs. Wait, neo-cons don't care about those either...
