An absolutely brilliantly researched and written article by James Kirchick at the New Republic which should put to bed once and for all any Ron Paul claim to political legitimacy.
The reality is that Ron Paul represents the very worst that American extremism has to offer, no matter what his views on the Iraq war are. Progressives have many anti-war advocates to get in bed with without resorting to embracing the man that called Eleanor Holmes Norton a "black pinko" and Donna Shalala a "short lesbian".
Regarding years of Ron Paul newsletters, Kirchick writes,
What they reveal are decades worth of obsession with conspiracies, sympathy for the right-wing militia movement, and deeply held bigotry against blacks, Jews, and gays. In short, they suggest that Ron Paul is not the plain-speaking antiwar activist his supporters believe they are backing--but rather a member in good standing of some of the oldest and ugliest traditions in American politics.
Ron Paul is a very dangerous zealot who should be called to task for his racist, homophobic views, discarded and ignored. To give him any credence whatsoever is to lend credibility and implicit endorsement to his fanaticism.

Ron Paul and his followers have accused almost every liberal politician, the Freemasons, and many others of "conspiring" to kill off people....and not being honest...of robbing us of our rights. They have helped to spread slander against Obama, Al Gore, environmentalists, and others. WHY HAS RON PAUL NOT TOLD THE TRUTH ABOUT HIS CONNECTIONS WITH CONFEDERATES.
This is horrible...outrageous and RP should be ashamed of his lies--particularly since he sits in judgment of other people.
