As a former Edward's supporter, I wasn't planning to vote in the primary since I could not get excited over a ‘yes we can' or ‘experience' ticket. On Feb 5th, I decided at the last second to fly in from FL and vote in the NY primary. Since my mom wanted to vote for Hillary, I did the same so that I would not nullify her vote-I can hear the howls of disappointment from voices who tell me that Hillary is a corporatist, voted for the Iraqi war/occupation & continued funding of said occupation, etc., but ultimately I'll be reasonably content with either candidate as long as we get the Republicans out of power.
Naturally, I'm excited that the Democrats are pulling in voters at record numbers (in Kansas, people are coming in to caucus in the snow, sleet & darkness), but to be honest, I'm sad that the BushCo's crime family will never be held accountable for their unspeakable acts. See the DailyKos diary: They're all Guilty
Coming from Indonesia and knowing that its former ruler, Suharto, a mass murderer will never be held accountable is difficult to accept. More on the devastating impact that the Suharto regime inflicted on Indonesia can be seen in a John Pilger's film: ‘The New Rulers of the World'.
If Bill Clinton had investigated the crimes of the Reagan & Bush I era (Iran- Contra, Guatemalan genocide, etc.), the criminals of that corrupt Republican regime, would not have been able to wreak havoc upon this nation and the world a second time. Realizing that similar to Suharto, BushCo will get away with his crimes saddens me beyond words.
