Does it seem as if their agenda is somehow on a par with apartheid South Africa, which sought to use a Calvinist interpretation of Divine Scripture to justify racial segregation (and reinforced it in the educational system, officially known as National Christian Education)?

Not to mention likely to support Operation Rescue-led initiatives to evacuate the Afrikaner peoples from South Africa as "refugees", howbeit with their claims of "fear of persecution" sounding a bit insincere?

When you are dealing with the religious right, you must use their terms. Don't say that science says the Earth is 4 Billion years old. As soon as you say science they stop listening. Say that the Bible does not say that the Earth is 6000 years old. If they say a religious scholar says that it is, say that he is a human being and is fallible.
For this election again, point to the Bible. Blessed are the peacemakers. McCain wants to fight an immoral war for another thousand years. Huckabee wants to bring the Constitution closer to God. Jesus said give unto Caeser that which is Caeser's, give unto God that which is God's. It is Huckabee that is defying the Bible.
Otherwise religion should be a private matter.

morons, and i use the term not in the pejorative or ad hominem, but simply a declaration of fact. despite their woeful and willful ignorance the failure of their own internal logic is baffling.

there really should be some sort of general knowledge test on ballots five simple questions taken from the citizenship test. three of the five questions are randomly selected on each ballot, missing two of three nullifies your vote. it won't catch all the idiots, but it'll get rid of some.
