I saw how Joe Scarborough operated on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, when he was a Congressman, and believe me, he definitely didn't qualify as an effective Congressman, just as he doesn't qualify as a Journalist. I am appalled by the way the media disengages us with trivia. Although this person and her reaction is valid, what shocks me is that it too is thought of as news. I doubt that Walter Cronkite's producer would have ignored his insistence on dumping a story. It does prove that journalists do not have control of content and any attempt to exercise control is considered, by many of their well paid colleagues, sedition. Thank MSNBC for once again proving that we are at the mercy of morons, and that when someone becomes a person they are viewed as a treat.

Just like the fall of the Empire of ancient Rome, we are witnessing a similar decline of our Western civilization with America spearheading the way with its persistent embrace of mental diarrhea.

In the last couple of decades we have managed to promote and praise the "insignificant" while at the same time we "nerdified" the accomplished and the contributors to our society.

Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on athletes and entertainers while doctors and scientists and educators are left scavenging for survival. We have done away with our institutions of worship and handed the baton of morality to greedy and mindless media execs who have no sense of the corruption they are creating in the minds of our youth with the promotion of such a pinheaded blonde that is Paris Hilton.

Although, dear Ms Brzezinski, I praise you for doing the right thing, I am saddened by the thought that it will take thousands more like you if we are to avoid our seemingly inevitable decline.

I hope this is real and not a stunt, and I hope it leads the way to others to do the same.

It's such a shame that Paris is such a 'waster' as my Irish husband calls it and we've decided to boycott and ban all subsequent television and information about her in our house - beginning with the purchase a 'Paris-free' US magazine this weekend - Mika deserves a medal for so publicly taking this stand!! and I hope her job status was in no way jeopardized by this action -

A major component missing in news journalism in this country is courage, intellectual integrity, objectivity and restraint. I am fed up totally with the likes of Paris Hilton getting this much undeserved attention for essentially NOTHING at a time with so many other important issues/stories exist in our culture and world to be covered and reported.

We need another 50 like Mika... and then I might actually begin to watch the news again. You can be sure MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski (and MSNBC) has become my primary source when I need to find effective, honest and professional news journalism.... the kind you other guys at other stations learn in school but forget the minute you graduate....... and smell money!
