A 22-year-old soldier from Fort Lewis who was wounded in a bombing in Iraq five months ago has died.
Spc. Kevin Mowl of Pittsford, N.Y., is the fourth Stryker brigade soldier to die from the attack on Aug. 2 in Baghdad. An improvised explosive device was detonated in a storm sewer, flipping his vehicle and leaving him with broken bones and a head injury.


It's always like a punch to the gut as you realize that those injured, killed or just trying to get back to their lives or survive another day in the combat zone do not live or die in a vacuum. Their stories go on and on and they are a part of all our lives.
