Bucky that's terribly sad and oddly wonderful. The father fight over the brussels sprouts is sad, the vomiting across the table put a very amusing little motion picture in my head. When you come and visit, and you will, we will not be serving brussels sprouts.
My brother used to stuff his vegetable in the upholstery of his dining room chair. he worked a rip in the seam and for years fooled mom by stuffing peas, carrots and other victuals in there. She discovered it a long time later when he was too big to punish. He's a TSA screener now, he knows how to hide things.

Well, brussel sprouts.

When I was growing up, we had to eat everything on our plates. If we didn't finish it at one meal, that was what we had for our next.

Hungry children in India and all. Which just let me point out was never quite fair as I didn't put the damn food on my plate in the first place.

Anyway. When I was about ten, there was the brussel sprouts standoff between my father and me.

I'd had these disgusting brussel sprouts on my plate since Thursday night. Everyong else is chomping along merrily -- I remember steak night on Saturday -- and I'm sitting there hungry with three sad brussel sprouts on my plate.

Sunday, after church, it was our turn to fee the preacher and his family (if you know, you know, if not, don't worry). Everyone else was having some casserole and I had these three brussel sprouts on my plate. Needless to say my father was terribly embarrassed. Heh. Finally he can stand it no longer and grabs the back of my head with one hand and the brussel sprouts with the other and shoves them in my mouth.

Moments later, I'm projectile vomiting across the table at Preacher Man. Not pretty. Got the crap beaten out of me that night.

So, I'm no fan of the tiny cabbabges.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with the oddness about farm smells. Just reminds me of a pleasant time and place.

I do worry about Obama's "let's all work together" language and "reaching across the aisle" talk. I know that we've got to pull together as a nation, so I can appreciate that notion. I also know that in the past "let's all pull together" for the dems has meant "let's bend over" and "reaching across the aisle" has been "grab your ankles" and I'm really tired of that. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, everyone.)

His vouchers talk -- which I have just discovered so I don't know if it is new or not -- is very disturbing to me. I'm a huge proponent of public education. Very upsetting.

As is his stance on gay marriage. Although he does push the issue of gay equality (of a sort) when he doesn't need to, as he did in Beaumont this past week.

I was stunned to hear Clinton finally admit that her Iraq authorization vote was a mistake in the last debate. She said she had admitted it before, but it was the first time I had heard it. So she doesn't always stick to her positions. Which I actually like. I much prefer a person that can take in new information and review the situation and admit to mistakes and change course. That has been one of the things that has really bothered me about her up till now. Her inability to admit that the Iraq vote was a mistake.

We've had enough of a president that can't see the error of his ways.

I know I love the smell! So we are equally open to question. But who cares? You either get it or you don't.
I don't feel I'm getting a dean type democrat with Obama. I just don't. Everything also comes with an equivocation. Everything has an out so when asked for action there will be an explanation why we, can't have universal health care, can't promote gay marriage among the states (yeah Clinton is the same but at least she says it without couching it in terms that can be misconstrued) why reaching across the aisle my not be the best thing for progressive interests. Why he is "open" to vouchers, why he needs to have a "commision" on Blackwater and mercenaries as if nothing has been written. The list goes on in my mind. Sure he'll be a step above any republican. But I want someone who is not afraid to call themselves a liberal and doesn't try to disquise it as "common sense." Clinton has her definant down sides, but at least she sticks to them.

Completely forgot about the horse shit, Addleston.

I know this will sound strange, but when I was growing up my grandparents had a farm with a number of horses and the smell of horse shit always takes me back to a happy time in my life.

As for the 3am ad, Addy, it was too much FEAR, FEAR, FEAR for my taste. We've had enough of that from BushCo these past seven years.

You know I'm an Obama supporter -- but not an Obamaniac. And I'm far from a Hillary hater either, and I'll be glad to vote for her in the general if she wins the nomination.

But it is this sort of thing that keeps turning me off. Her campaign just isn't getting it, in my opinion. The same old messages aren't what I want to hear. Obama may be a little bit pie-in-the-sky, but right now, we need a little hope.

This "do you know where your kids are 'cuz Obama is going to put them in harm's way' ad just hit all the wrong notes with me.
