Sean Hannity was very rude to Al Sharpton. He would not let Al get his point across without interruption. And, It was Sean that invited Al on the show, so he should have shown Al respect!

It just goes to show you that people like Sean Hannity is not interested in the healing of this nation. They are for keeping this nation divided. Because it serve their purpose to keep people sqawking at each other. So, I think that we can ignore people like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh (who suggested that Barack was not being sincere in his speech today). Barack certainly was being sincere. It is people like Rush Limbaugh that are hardly ever serious about anything meaningful!

I am a 64 year old white woman who cut her political teeth on the Civil Rights movement, and have heard the same topics about which Rev. Wright spoke danced around and danced around by so called "Democrats" and “Progressives." Although I do not want Obama’s campaign to take the hit for this and divert our attention from regaining the White House (Excuse me! Do we want to deliver it to 100 more years of the same pre-emptive war, etc., etc.?!), I believe we need to discuss class inequities, racism, sexism and nationalism. This is a good time to do that. And Obama – as a Constitutional Law professor could well lead that discussion. Both my husband and I thought his answers to Keith Oberman the other night were very good.

Pastors, prophets and historians have all pointed out these same disturbing realities for centuries. To get a little Christian – Christ threw people out of the temple for mistreating and taking advantage of the poor and disenfranchised. The social gospel has merit.

I understand the concern that a church is providing a pulpit from which a politician can present his platform – but did this really happen? And how many other churches have allowed speakers from the opposite point of view to use the church and the pulpit to extend a particular political agenda? This is not new – it is just coming from another perspective, another life experience (that we has whites will never understand – sorry folks). The Black church has been one of the principal rallying center for African American’s political activism (sometimes even a regressive one in certain areas).

We are grown ups – we need to “stick the pointy end of the stick into the soft white underbelly of these issues” to borrow a phrase from Rachel Maddeau, and really revolutionize the conversation we are having in our country. You young folks are smart enough to start that process – let’s bring it on!!!!

Rev. Sharpton got it right!! Thank God!

Wright was foolish to say those things. He has embarased himself and the church. But the fact is that he his only obama’s preacher period. Yeah how can u stay with such a man for 20 yrs. U can never define a mans 36yrs career in 2 15sec sound bite. He has preached jesus christ for many yrs and obviously said some unpatriotic things which he needs to apologise for. I dont think that a man of God, who has served his country in the arm is not patriotic because of 30 sec sound bite. All this is about wright. how do you unfairly attack obama because of what wright said. OK. Rod parsely, Hagge and many pastors have said some vicious things too. Are we going to say, oh, the children and parents of those churches don’t have a shot at the presidency. I dont think so. Also fox-Hannity-fox-hannity, stop attacking barack for what someone else said. Attack him him for his deeds. By the way, How can obama be racist against white people or even black people when he is half of both. Imagine this, he went to law school to help people not to become rich.

Back in 1994 H. R. Haldeman published his White House diaries in which he revealed a conversation between the Rev. Billy Graham and President Nixon that took place in 1972 about how to deal with the problem of the “satanic Jews” whom Graham felt maintained a “total Jewish domination of the media.” This allegation was completely at odds with the public image America had of Billy Graham

America needs to understand the histories of its constituent groupings. Whites need to realise that black churches came about so that Blacks could lift each other up so that they could face the next week. Because facing the next week and the next was a serious ordeal. Much of black America is still facing ordeal after ordeal and simply because some have made it into the middle class and the civil rights act has been passed and things have gotten better, does it mean that now everything is all right. It is not and blacks still seek this lifting up by one another.
This is what has kept things on an even keal.
Black churches have a historical tradition. They handled the underground railroad, they were at the forefront of the civil rights movement, they opposed the war in Viet Nam and America's role there. They spoke the inconvenient truths there (such as the truth about the Tuskeegee Experiment and (some now believe the 'truth' about the AIDS epidemic). They had their daughters killed in the church basement for it, they had their children and their supporters of all races and creeds killed for it. They are still looking at things through the eyes of those who experienced Jim Crowe when it was open and the subtle form of Jim Crowe.

Similar rules apply for other constituencies in America.
Middle America needs to understand that its view of America is not the only view of America and those other people are just as American as you.
