I was there in 04 driving for KBR and was never promised that much money. We where told we would be driving in a hostile environment. We where issud helmets and flack vest. We where shot at and had IED's going off pretty much on a regular basis. I am going back ther to drive again in October of 07. It is not out of greed that I return. I will return because I am to old to fight, so I will support my soldiers, my flag, and my country the only way I can. I do not want my wife, my kids, or the US people to have to worry about IEDS along our roads and streets. You people sign up for the job and then want to come back and grab some press. You new what you where getting into before you left Houston. I lost alot of brothers over there on April 9. 2004. I was and still am very saddend that my friends died, but they and ther families have the satisfaction of knowing there loved one or friend died in part by helping the US Soldiers keep that shit out of this country.

Maybe I'm missing something, which will reveal itself in the final film, but I'm not sure I can sympathise very much with the contractors. It is greed -- the same greed that drives the corporations -- that enticed them to sign on as contractors. One guy said he was guaranteed $145,000 for nine months' work, "to help his family."

I'm sorry, but that's greed, not survival. I have MUCH more sympathy for the noble men and women of our armed forces who were duped into believing that the invasion of Iraq was in the interest of our national security, which clearly turned out to be a lie.

Like I said, perhaps the message is more complete in the film, but you're not drumming up my sympathy with this trailer...

I think it is direct and too the point but the soldiers need also be included heavy in this movie. They are over there fighting for our country. Or should I say for the corporations to make a profit. This is pure you know what! GREED KILLS!!! I also think all who donated should get a final version on DVD.

The trailer is superb -- I can't wait to see the entire film and to make sure everyone I know sees it -- sort of makes me think of a co-conspirator (in the best sense) with Al Gore and "An Inconvenient Truth" -- Congratulations!

A noticable improvement over the first trailer. An endless war on terror is big business for the ever growing war and terror-related chunk of corporate America, and this needs to be shown. Connecting the dots from the Republican war-mongers to corporate billions for war profiteers is tricky but important-Halliburton, Blackwater, Big Oil, etc. I'd like to see some statements by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. regarding the cost of this war and the reality. Non-stop lying from day one. By the end of the film, the viewer should be thinking about why this war was really launched.

I think it's an excellent trailer, better than the first. Nonetheless, I have two suggestions.

First, the audio of the beleaguered employee yelling "Goddamn!" while in the middle of a firefight may limit distribution of the trailer (due to what they regard as profanity). It's compelling, but as a practical matter, we don't need to limit distribution of the trailer.

Second, I agree with other comments about the good aspects of the first trailer, and specific instances of profiteering. Karpinski is a polarizing figure, and I would suggest keeping her out of the trailer and using someone else to convey the point.

mmmmmmm......I must say that I need to concur on some of the negatives written. I think spend a longer time, start with the truck with the corporate stickers and keep it on view longer. Also, yes, make it abundantly clear that the soldier's pay is negligible compared to the trucker/contractor, throw in the private mercenaries, how everyone is trying to make a life for their themselves and their families, throw in how the CEOs live, how the neo-cons live and you might have something to grab everyone and not just have people think, "Why would I go see a movie about mercenaries/contractors? You're preaching to the choir here." You need to make it abundantly obvious how everyone was lied to and what the result of that has been: a devastated country, a ravaged military, civilian loss in the very high tens of thousands, with both Iraq and Afghanistan being a training ground for terrorists now...not to mention the civil war in Iraq. And the permanent military bases. And the decimated oil fields. Sounds like a lot for a trailer, but I think you can do it creatively and w/o showing the whole movie. Make it at least 7 minutes. Make it so people of all stripes are not saying, "oh no, not another one of THOSE kind of movies!" I'm sorry and I'm glad I'm not y'all! You'll get it right, I have no doubt.

I wasn't able to view the it, but could hear the dialog. I think this will be a big surprise to many people. Much of my family are Republicians and at a recent family reunion their disgust for the war was begining to show, but they didn't exactly make the connection to the Bush administration.... (don't ask me why I don't get it either) I think a movie like this, with REAL people telling REAL stories will help.... BUT do be careful not to be too over the top. People will watch this if they believe honest, work class conservative people like themselves are actually telling the story, if it appears to be too far left then the FOXites will have an easy time spinning it at liberal propaganda rather than real people telling it like it is! The trailer does not tie closely enough to the film's message. To me a simple black screen with white text which shows the profits reaped by corporations tied to Bush administration officials, followed by scenes of war, suffering, and death in Iraq would work better.

I'm sorry, but I'm still not impressed at all. It sounds like the whole film is about truck drivers who get screwed in Iraq. The whole Haliburton KBR scandal situation is so much more involved than this trailer depicts. It seems that you're just scratching the surface and stuck on one idea. What about the meetings with big businesses, what about some facts and figures, what about the proof about how much money these guys are making. Just seems like a very narrow slice of one piece of the puzzle.

I liked the first more. Its hard for me to find simpathy for people that decided to go into a war zone in the name of greed. My father has been there a couple of times and he knew what he was getting into even being in bad health and not knowing exactly were he would be for "security" reasons. Focus on the corporate greed and what it cost us.....at the end of the day we are paying the 140000.00 truck driver salaries...and 220000.00 for journey men electricians......thanks ...my 2 cents

Contrary to the folks who conclude that the trailer esposes a weak film that largely focuses on the testimony of truck drivers, I am willing to bet that the film will go into other facets of corporate greed. After all, it is a more striking story of greed to show that KBR can knowingly throw workers into harm's way for profit, than it would be to simply tell the story of KBR getting no-bid contracts. In other words, they're not just guilty of theft, but of theft and mortal betrayal. So, I'm anticipating something well beyond just a story about truck drivers.

I merely add what I said in my comments following the first trailer -- I hope there is some data in the form of charts, graphs, or whatever, to summarize and illustrate the facts and the magnitude of the greed being exposed. I.E., how many dollars are we talking, here? Who are the principal players? What's the factual nature of Cheney's connection? Are there corporate ties to other members of the administration? I'd like to see the "package" tied together in the same way that the brilliant film, "Hijacking Catastrophe," tied the neocon community together.

I appreciate, deeply, the effort and the intent. Your film, "Uncovered: The War on Iraq," was also so well done. I can't wait to see the new finished product!

This promo is not about war profiteering. It is about truck drivers complaining--after the fact--that they were taken advantage of while being paid huge salaries in a war zone. I don't buy it, and I have no sympathy. In fact, I am left confused as to just why this movie has the name it has.

I want to learn WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE WHY from the trailer (like a press release). Who are the profiteers? What is going on? Touch on at least a couple of these facts. Shove a few simple stats in our faces.

My son saw this cold and said this movie was about truck drivers in Iraq. That's it. He said they did not seem like victims. There was nothing about the civilians in Iraq being killed. When he thinks about war profiteering, he thinks of higher ups, not truck drivers.

This is a much better trailer. I keep remembering Michael Moore's Farenheit 9/11. The most unforgetable scene in that film showed the war profiteers salivating over the prospect of all the money they could make in Iraq. I hope you have some similar footage. If not, ask permission from MM to use that scene. It ties in so beautifully with the point you are making.

Still pretty weak. Needs more content concerning the contractor/war for profit connection. It seemed more like a poor truck driver in danger documentary. Karpenski is good. How about contractor employees other than drivers. Some hard detail about money being made by some of these corporate traitors might be good.

I agree with others who said that the theme of the trailer around truck drivers is completely different from the movie title that focuses on war profiteering. This trailer does not compel me to see the movie. I don't relate to driving trucks in Iraq.

What would interest me is how many thousands of dollars I'm paying for this war that I disagree with. The reason for the war was to take out Sadam Hussein who was pumping more than his OPEC quota and driving the price of oil down. USA Oil men like OPEC because it makes their oil worth more per barrel. By taking out Sadam, the OPEC oil production decreases and prices go up. So the natural result of the war is increased gas prices! And it worked like a charm. See Greg Pallast's new book Armed Madhouse for historical details.

Maybe getting feedback earlier in the production cycle might be beneficial. At the time trailers are produced it is too late to make significant changes.

this is a movie about business as usual for the Bush administration and the Republicans and all their friends who give them lots of money. The same friends who make the money off of the US taxpayer and pay no taxes and don't get the work done. They lied to
everyone - they still are out there telling big whoppers. And all you people still believe them. Other than sitting at you computer watching movies what have YOU done?

I agree with someone else's comment that it makes the companies look like they are not taking care of their employees. While this is not flattering, it won't generate the kind of anger and deep concern everyone should have about the whole idea of a few companies making a fortune from the intense suffering of our troops and the entire population of Iraq. If there is information that points to profits actually being an original motive for war, that would be great. I'm also a little fuzzy on General Karpinski ... wasn't she fired for allowing the prison scandal? Even if she was a scapegoat and treated unfairly (which is highly likely I suppose) will she be a credible spokesperson to the average citizen. Thanks again for all the films you make. You are doing a real service for everyone.

This trailer makes me think you are wanting me to feel sorry for these contractor personnel and I certainly don't-they are over there to cut a fat hog in the ass and as far as I am concerned they are just hired guns.

I am with Chris and Rob on my reaction to this trailer, it isn't clear to me that there are big issues. Except for the too briefly mentioned 'government is being subcontracted' nod it looks like a human interest film about the truckers.

I am interested in the war profiteers, I suspect Halliburon, KBR, and Parsons i.e. big fish. Do you fry them in this film or is this about these drivers? Everyone in a war zone is in harms way, our National Guard are far more deserving of our sympathy than these equally unprepared and illequipt drivers.

Agree with Rob, this is not compelling.

I gather the movie is about corporate profiteering, but this trailer could be construed to be about the truck drivers' profiteering: "promised $140 thousand for nine months". A lot of people won't have much sympathy for people who get into trouble while trying to make a fast buck.

This movie needs to be distributed and shown in ways other than a DVD for purchase. Progressives like us who hate to waste money and lives will buy the DVD, but most of this country will never see this film unless it's somewhere on T.V. or on the big screen. Maybe Greewald can find a crack in the right wing corperate media to find a venue for this film.

The movie 'The Corporation' established this, but with Iraq, you have this brilliant opportunity to see this evil in full flower.
We will all die from Corporate inflicted wounds in the near future; be they cancerous, atmorpheric, fungal, chemical, pharmaceutical or the simple insanity within out brothers and sisters unleashed by the global imbalance created and exacerbated by transnational corporate greed. The war is almost beside the point. It is but a brilliant example of the depths to which the Corporation is now dragging us all, globally.

It is tremendously inspiring to see the functioning network you have built and how well it serves you in the making of bigger and even more important films.
I am proud to have added my small bit of help- and empowered. All of us who gave whatever we were able, to help finance the film- make up a small community which is the prototype everyone needs to see and duplicate to initiate change where they are most concerned.

Hi and again thanks for your work. I watched this version one and 1/2 times (last time it took 3 times) before commenting. With great respect for what you are doing,I offer: (1) the beginning is simply much too weak. I see the thread of truckdriving you are weaving, but somehow tying it into (generalized) corporate rape&pillage needs to be established. Only then do I feel Gen Karpinski's comments would have the clout you are aiming for. They would then serve to substiatiate as opposed to trying to initiate. (2) When the individual faces were flashing by with their comments was the lst place I sensed any visceral response. (this is how I've come to judge cultural/artistic worth) Only then did the trailer begin to work for me. (3) Some of the oomph from the photos and comments around burying the broken SUV's from the 1st trailer is missing. (4) I don't know if it is important, but it is still unclear to me if the trailer message is about the folly of making money for a well meaning but not well educated or physically fit individual or the greed of the privatized military industrial complex blessed by the government. I agree with the consensus that this is a better trailer than the first: at least it is clear what the documentary seems to be about, where as the first one was very confusing. But I am hoping that the actual film is broader than this trailer suggests. Basically it appears to be about how US civilian truckers got screwed over by corporations. But the title of the documentary is Iraq For Sale. I do hope that this is just a hook to get audiences interested but that the documentary will also and substantively be about how Iraq and Iraqis are getting screwed by Western corporations. Otherwise the documentary is in danger of perpetuating the American insularity and lack of awareness about the impact of American foreign policy on people around the world that is responsible for both 9/11 and the attack on Iraq. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping you won't disappoint, but the trailer does worry me.

Frankly, this is not compelling. I applaud your efforts and feel this is a worthy undertaking, but there was a total disconnect between what I thought the film was about (excessive war-time profiteering at tax-payers’ expense) and the trailer’s subject matter (companies not taking care of their employees who are being put in harms way). Maybe I'm callous for saying this, but I don't feel too much sympathy for folks who are crazy enough to go to Iraq because of a big paycheck. My BS meter goes off and says they should know better. No one is that naive, and if they are... well hopefully they've got some friends to knock some sense into them.

The trailer looks pretty good to me. However, for the people it's aimed at, folks who may not be paying as close attention to who is winning this war (financially), I think it would be good to add a graphic somewhere towards the beginning of the trailer that names 3 or 4 companies and gives dollar amounts of what they've earned since the war began. Also mention that this money comes from tax dollars. Lots of war supporters don't seem to get that THEY are paying the war profiteers with their taxes, and the trailer might be too subtle.

This trailer is completely different than the first - much clearer for the mass public, in my opinion. Like all good trailers, this one peaks curiosity, makes you want more, to explore more, thus making you more interested in seeing the film. My comments (not sure if they are concerns yet), though, lie in how drastically different the take is on this trailer compared to the first.

The first trailer, although to me very confusing, etched out a weak voice against corporate presence in the war. This trailer goes about that subject in a different way: by bringing this whole idea of 'corporation monopoly massacre' around to the real human beings who are suffering at the bloody hands of these corporations.

(Question for thought: is it only the truck drivers who are 'paying the price' for the war?)

I think for a trailer you need to do what you just did - go more into the human side of things, also mindful of not insulting anyone's intelligence (or lack thereof) - in order to reach more people. I am confident that once you've reeled in the audience you will go for the jugular, exposing what needs to be exposed. Best of luck to you! To us! Cheers! I wish I could remember more about the first trailer, but I really like the way this version builds to a type of climax. What I still (after three viewings) am not entirely clear about is what the flying logos are all about in the next-to-last image. Are they supposed to represent the involvement of different corporations in the building of that tank ? I think you need a caption for that near final image.

Excellent promo. Much improved over the original. My only recommendation is if you could possibly pause an extra second or two after you put the company logos on the M1 to allow the viewer to read the names of the companies.

I look forward to the release; this documentary really needs to have the widest distribution.

Looks great for the most part. My only criticism is that I walked away primarily with the image of truck drivers in Iraq versus a range of contractors. Having people tell their own stories is effective. Thanks for all your work to get the message out!

Not having seen the earlier version of the trailer, I can't make comparisons as others have done here. But I can say that this one takes the right approach for the most part. I was bothered a little by not knowing who the people were that made comments who seem not to have actually been in Iraq. The trailer was most efective with the voices and faces of those who were in the mess we are continuing to make of people's lives.

The sound on my computer was bad to terrible (everything else I hear on it sounds good)...thought the trailer lacked the focus of your title It is rambling and beating around the bush (no joke intended) The general is the best thing in it. I contributed because I believe in your project. Would your ego permit getting the ideas of a few heavy weights in the business who might have some creative and marketing savy to add to yours so that a truly dynamite trailer can be created?

If this trailer gets the average American into the theatre to watch it, then I like it. But I hope the movie shows how the Bushies and their buddies have directly profited from a war that there was no legitimate reason to launch.

I thought the June 8 trailer was much better. It made the point of showing the incredible differences between the soldiers and the contractors employees lives over there in terms of pay and living conditions. It also showed that the contractors must be reaping huge profits if they can afford to pay those salaries and provide the quarters that they do. The July trailer is much more vague.

I think you could have done a better job. Better photography and better editing thru zooming and cropping with the use of great music.

I could not see the trailer. After about three tries, I could hear the dialog.

A big improvement! Still the fact that the only person identified is Ms. Karpinski does sort of beg the question of who are these other guys? But I like the fact that there are more specifics, and the video which seems to be of a truck convoy being attacked (which I hope for integrity's sake is authentic... don't mean to be untrusting, but the current administration has taught me to be always skeptical...) is quite arresting.
Looking forward to the film.

Not even similar to the first trailer, and to my mind, a much more nebulous message is offered here. The real point was more clearly presented in the first trailer, even if it had some continuity issues. I was impressed in the first one with a particular quote about the relative wages of solders and corporate employees. In this version only General Karpinski's comment directly addresses the issue; the rest seem to focus on the lack of security promised truck drivers. I expected the final trailer to be harder hitting than the first version we were shown. Sorry, but I'm disappointed.

The new trailer is awesome. Much better than the other one, direct to the point, easy to follow and compelling. Great job!
