Our pals the News Hounds alerted us to this today after being tipped off by a vigilant viewer. This is really upsetting and scary and will require an immediate pushback from all Democrats and progressives. Except, unfortunately, Hillary Clinton.

Some of you might’ve seen William “the Bloody” Kristol’s op-ed in the NYTimes calling Obama a Marxist for saying that people cling to religion, culture, and their values in times of trouble (which is demonstrably true). Kristol is a contributor and frequent guest on FOX.

FOX runs with it, pumping it out across their network. On Neil Cavuto’s “business” show, they run SIX SEGMENTS about Obama being elitist, “uppity” (as those non-slave negroes can be), and that he “sounded very Karl Marxie.” And this was all before the FIRST commercial break, and without airing the full clip of what Obama had actually said, which was:

You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate, and they have not.

And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment, as a way to explain their frustrations.

Cavuto went on to say:

I heard one Democrat in the state telling one reporter, I don't even remember, might have been on our network, I don't know, um, that it sounded very Karl Marxie. In other words, that religion has become the opiate of the masses and that really sticks in a lot of Pennsylvanian's craw.

Of course, he’s not talking about “one Democrat” — he’s talking about neocon William Kristol. Then, right on cue, Joe Lieberman rears his backstabbing head to say (on a FOX radio show, of course) that it’s “a good question” to ask if Obama is a Marxist, giving conservatives cover by claiming that even a supposedly fair-minded “moderate/independent” senator like Lieberman thinks it might be true. This somehow makes the Marxist claim seem like it’s not just a ridiculous, fearmongering claim by neocon nutjobs, even though that’s precisely what Lieberman is, though he’s never portrayed that way in the press.

Take a good look, everyone. What you’re seeing is a highly organized effort from Republicans and the Clinton campaign to cripple Obama right before the Pennsylvania primary. I’d be shocked if this same message isn’t blasting all across conservative radio, and FOX will be sure to keep on it right up until the primary. And, as we showed in FOX ATTACKS! Obama 2: Spreading the Virus, there’s a sadly strong chance that this message will spread to the rest of the media.

The Republicans want Hillary Clinton to get the nomination, and this is their big push. I was disgusted over the weekend to see the McCain and Hillary tag-team piling on Obama, while the media completely ignored Obama’s terrific response to McCain and Clinton claiming that Obama is “out of touch” for saying that voters in Pennsylvania are bitter about the state of the country and vote on cultural values since they’ve given up on the government helping them with anything else.

This has been Clinton’s whole game plan and the reason she’s stayed in the race — to find the right time to throw as much bullshit as possible all over Obama. And she’s doing it with the help of Republicans who share her goal — making sure Obama does not get the nomination. The Clinton camp had openly claimed that they would “throw the kitchen sink” at Obama, but I never thought Hillary would be so happy to have conservatives do so much of the lifting.

We need to fight this with everything we’ve got. The traditional media’s coverage about the fake uproar around Obama’s statement has been abysmal. They’re not going to tell people what’s really happening, even though that’s their job and them doing it is vital to the ability of our democracy to function.

Email people. Call people. Send them videos. Forward this post. Anything. Everything.

I don’t mean to be alarmist, but this is really happening, everyone. It’s for real, and it's deadly serious.

This crap we're witnessing now could decide who becomes president.
