While it is true that what these pastors say, even if they are actually the candidate's pastor really has little bearing on the candidate's qualifications or ability to be President, if one is made an issue of debate, all of them should. The fact that the media for the most part has ignored these two pastors and focused on Wright is wrong. Only time will tell if the media will fairly highlight these two pastors in the national election should the media continue to make an issue of Rev. Wright.

There are other facts that are largely ignored by the media. Little is said of the history of Obama's recent relationship with Rev. Wright. Specifically, it appears that Obama distanced himself from Rev. Wright from the start by not having him play a major role when Obama announced his candidacy and has kept him in the background since. On the other hand, McCain went out of his way to obtain the support of both Rev. Hagee and Rev. Parsley with full knowledge of their views.

While it is understandable that there are people who are uncomfortable with some of Rev. Wright's statements, his statements really don't pose a threat to our country even if he were the President's Pastor or Spiritual Guide. On the other hand courting the endorsement of a person like Rev. Parsley who makes inflammatory and blasphemous statements about Islam only adds to the case of the leaders in the Muslim world that for political gain make the United States a target. Even without this, anyone who hears what Rev. Parsley has to say should reject and denounce him, not seek his endorsement.

Wright and Obama have had a 20 year relationship. Obama has called Wright "my spiritual leader", as opposed to "a spiritual leader". Wright has married Obama, christened his children, and presumedly influenced his views for the majority of his adult life.

Although it's obviously shameful for McCain to court the endorsement of Parsley and Hagee, these men have never been McCain's pastor. McCain's relationship with them is clearly shallow, dating in months as opposed to decades.

up until 2000 there was much about john mccain to be admired, as he had actual, personal views...however, once he was torn to shreds by bush, the cheney-rove puppet, he decided that being a whore and having a likely chance of getting elected was far better than having principles...it is actually quite sad, as well as endemic in american politics today (see nancy pelosi, harry reid, etc)
