Max, Sure, there's a world[view] of difference between the two parties if you only pay attention to their respective platforms and candidates' soundbites. The last two Republican administrations have increased spending and raised taxes (through the invisible tax of devaluing the currency through inflation courtesy of the Fed). Democrats were given a mandate last election to end the war on Iraq and bring our troops home, but they only ended up voting for Defense budget increases serving only to prolong the war on Iraq. You should read Professor Carroll Quigley's (Google him) book titled "Tragedy and Hope." Here's a quote from it:

"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can throw the rascals out at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy. Then it should be possible to replace it, every four years if necessary, by the other party, which will be none of these things but will still pursue, with new vigor, approximately the same basic policies."

Wow, lest anyone be deceived by Flick's rant, I'll just point out that the difference between Democrat and Republican (or progressive and conservative if you prefer) is about the fundamental role of government--whether it exists solely to protect and punish (conservative) or to aid and assist as well as protect (progressive). Saying we need to reform the whole darn system is all well and good (in fact, necessary right now), but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Looks like it might be cocaine abuse maybe or simply a psychological problem of some sort. It doesn't surprise me though. I read a peer reviewed essay not too long ago that focused on aggression and violence, and one of the studies the authors did was to research violent criminals that either were doing time for violent crimes or had done time for such in the past. Fully 70% admitted to being self proclaimed "conservatives" or agreeing strongly with conservative ideology, by way of question structure, such as that O'Rielly espouses.

Very violent and aggressive behavior (both passive aggressive and violent aggression) seems to be a familiarity amongst these types of individuals who gravitate towards the same sort of hate type oriented groups and political figures. You don't see any hippie types advocating peace and love and hate for "niggers" etc), as a counter example. It's a completely different worldview that progressives and conservatives have.
