They are a terrorist organization seeking to use the political legitimacy often accorded political parties for their own objectives. Your statement above suggests that you accord them legitimacy and your not mentioning their embracing of terrorism is glaring.

We agree on the overall Israeli-Palestinian situation although you oversimplify it by ignoring the major problem which is Jerusalem. You still continue to avoid how this started, your positioning Hamas as a legitimate political party and not also calling them a terrorist organization.

There needs to be a two state settlement, and their can be. But elected reps from both sides have to talk, enough with the excusses. Isreal could have a settlement if they wanted it by ending their 40 year occupation of Palistinian land. They dont want to and thats the problem. Isreal/US governments keep making out that its complicated - its not.

If Hamas renounced terrorism and acknowledged that Israel has a right to exist; they might achieve somethmg substantive for their people.

Sipple, when you talk about poor oppressed families in Gaza, (that's true) what you leave out is that Hamas launches rockets from Gaza into Israel and kills civillains.

3 or 4 days before the Palistinian elections in 2006 I remember Isreali gunships innialated a target in Gaza with innocent casualties. I remember thinking why would Isreal do this now unless they were trying to get Hamas elected. Hamas were behind at that point but they jumped ahead because of this incidint.
I knew then that Isreal wanted Hamas elected although I didn't understand the logic behind it, but I do now. Shocking. These poor families that have to live like this under oppression of a racist superpower that is never going to let them live in peace, its just shocking.
