Thousands of protesters have held rallies in South Korea's capital Seoul this week as they continue their campaign against the lifting of a ban on US beef imports.
Street protests, sometimes involving extreme measures, are an important part of Korean culture. More than 10,000 are held every year — some with devastating consequences. Step Vaessan reports.

-Strange -no candlelight vigils for the cold blooded murder of the South Korean woman tourist by North Korean soldiers a few weeks ago.
fact South Korea doesn't even seem concerned w
enough to finally cancel the Mount Kumgang
tourist program.
-Oh -and no vigils -indeed -not even much reporting on the 22 young North Korean refugees
-picked off rafts in the China Sea last April.
Many women and girls among them.
The pro-China South Korean lobby -and others
-pressured the government into 'quietly' handing them back.
They have all been shot.
--No candlelight for them either.
-So -thanks for giving the genocidal regime
up there in Pyongyang -propaganda material.
-Real smart guys.
