MCCAIN: "Let me just make two quick comments. One, yes, Senator Clinton is still in the race. I have known Sen. Clinton, I admire her and I respect her. She has inspired generations of American women to believe that they can reach the highest office in this nation and I respect her campaign. [applause] And I respect her. Now she and I have stark differences on issues. And those are just well-known and I have debated many of those issues on the floor of the Senate with her and other places but I admire the campaign that she has run and I think she deserves a great deal of credit and I think a few of us who have been around in politics for a while learned a lesson way back in 1992, that you'd better never count a Clinton out of any race, otherwise it may be uh—but I respect the campaign that she has, that she has run. Thank you.
On the issue of marriage, I just believe, frankly, in the sanctity of the unique status of marriage between man and woman. [applause] That's what I believe. That's what I support. [standing ovation] And that's what I will fight for. So-Thank you."
