JOHN MCCAIN: "Senator Obama filled out a questionnaire a few years ago basically advocating lifting the embargo on Cuba. Now he's saying it has to be conditional. What those conditions are is very non-specific. But he continues to state his desire and mission to sit down and negotiate with some of the most despotic and cruel dictators in the world. The President of Iran, Ahmadinejad, who said that Israel is a stinking corpse and is sending lethal explosive devises into Iraq from Iran and is killing young Americans, and is acquiring Nuclear weapons. Senator Obama wants to sit down with that person unconditionally face to face. My friends, the first thing that does is enhances Ahmadinejad's prestige in the region. Second thing is what are they going to talk about, the destruction of Israel? And third of all they will obviously cause more difficulties for us in our efforts in Iraq. [...] Roosevelt didn't talk with Hitler; Reagan didn't talk to Brezhnev or his two successors until Gorbachev was clearly ready to change his position. Reagan didn't do what Jimmy Carter did. Jimmy Carter went over and kissed Brezhnev. [...] It's dangerous. It's dangerous to America's national security to sit down and give respect and prestige to leaders of countries that are bent on your destruction or the destruction of other countries. I won't do it my friends. [...]"
