QUESTIONER: "Senator, here in Kentucky, in the last election the Republican governor was soundly defeated and there was a scandal . . . a lot of anti-Republican sentiment. How will that play out in your campaign for the Bluegrass state?"

JOHN MCCAIN: "I think I have to campaign hard here. I think in some ways you could view it as a swing state. I have to come back here to this state, as we all know, Kentucky plays a very big roll in the overall scheme of things. So I do not take anything in the state of Kentucky for granted . . ."
