TRANSCRIPT:
JOHN MCCAIN: "I'd like to mention, of course, I've always been known for taking non-controversial positions on issues and always tried to just go the easiest path. So I'd like to start out by saying to you that I have to give you a little straight talk about the Farm Bill that is winding its way through Congress. I do not support it, I would veto it. I would do that because I believe that these subsidies, that the subsidies are unnecessary and I believe that we should not subsidize. I do not believe we should have tariffs against imported products. But I want to promise you as president of the United States of America, I will recognize one fundamental fact and that is the farmer in the state of Iowa and the United States of America is the most productive, the most efficient, best and I will open every market in the world to your products and I will sell them [applause] . . ."
