Audience member: "As President, will you fight any timeline Congress gives you for withdrawal unless Petraeus tells you himself that we can come home?"

JOHN MCCAIN: "...Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely, the only person whose words I would rely on, to a large degree, is the recommendation of General Petraeus. And, uh, I really believe that the one way we can lose this thing now that we are succeeding, is to announce a date for withdrawal.
