Growing up in this country we are taught to look upon the empire as something to be proud of. But most of the people I know are ashamed of it and rightfully so.

Yes, Enoch Powell had proposed in the seventies, the repatriation all "coloureds" back to their home country. That would have included those born in England.

What colonial powers do and have done for many years is rape, pillage and plunder the "third world"(I abhor that description) for the benefit of those that fill their coffers with the rewards of political patronage. Huge social and financial benefits accrue to the populace of plundering countries while the victims of such actions wallow in poverty,ill health and despair - not knowing where the next meal is coming from...

The word "Commonwealth" in a misnomer for the grouping of "great" Britain and its' ex-colonies. There are a few well-heeled ones. Some are in G-8 meetings. We all know who they are. The rest should be referred to as "common-in-poverty"?

With all the attention given to China, Middle East, Russia, India, etc people seem to forget about Africa. Its a real shame. Its like people dont want to know. Refreshing to see some kind of debate.
You are right Kanuk, there was an open door policy among all Commonwealth countries at one time with Britain but not any more. The political right in the UK does its scaremongering about outsiders just as in the US. Its tough getting citizinship now if you are outside the EU.

There is no attempt by the British to re-colonise Africa. Political independence was granted to African and Caribbean states in the fifties and sixties in name only. There was no "war of independence" like in the US. As colonies,non-residents could have migrated with relative ease to Britain. One objective was to stem the tide of immigration.

Long term objective was to exercise control beyond local "autonomy". Africa and the Caribbean are rich and abundant in natural resources - but the majority exist in dire straits. Capital flight is one way. Whatever royalty and taxes that accrue locally are spent on drugs,medicines and technology. I could go on and on...got to get to work!

Their is no conspircy for the UK to re colonise African countries, they were glad to get out. No oil in Zimbabwe.

Speaking as a Brit I have got to tell you I wouldnt put anything past the crazy MI5. But I still need some evidence.

So perhaps this video should be renamed " Britain has robbed Zimbabwe" ? Lobsterman has posted historical and current facts about the state of Zimbabwe and the sranglehold on other non-white run ex-colonies. Black,Asian and Caribbean intellectuals who studied at British universities in the 30s 49s and 50s were "befriended" by female British intelligence officers passing of as fellow students. The aim was to develop psychological profiles - with particular reference to determine if they were corruptible or not. What their personal and political ambitions were upon return to their respective countries.

That should give any serious student of history a clue as to why some "failed states" fail. They were being prepped to fail. Add this thinking to past AND present colonial and neo-colonial masters - European AND American and it would explain a lot of what is happening now....

Zimbabwe Violence Bears British Counterinsurgency Stamp

June 23, 2008 (LPAC)--An African military intelligence source told EIR today that the brutality and professional nature of the killings and violence during the period running up to the June 27 run-off election in Zimbabwe were just like the British special-forces counterinsurgency operations that were used against the freedom fighters in Zimbabwe before independence. That force in Zimbabwe, known as the Selous Scouts, during the independence struggle, was a more advanced form of what the British had deployed in Kenya, and Malaya (today Malaysia) before that, in the respective fights of those two countries for independence from the British.

During the present Zimbabwe election period, the killings and violence have targeted members of the MDC opposition, who then blame the government, and then the Anglo-Dutch controlled media raises a hue and cry about what they call the government's use of violence to influence the election. British-trained SAS special forces are still active in Africa. In the 1990s, EIR exposed the fact that this type of force were clandestinely being run out of the huge game reserves the British have set up in Africa, where these forces couldn't be observed because the game reserves are restricted, ostensibly in the interest of saving the wildlife from being poached.

Military observers, who suspect that such a force has been interjected into the Zimbabwe run-off election, are reminded of the role of the Selous Scouts in Rhodesia, during the final phase of the independence struggle in the 1970s. The Selous Scouts, the most feared counterinsurgency operation on the African continent, was named after Frederick Courtney Selous, a hunter/explorer who was a friend of Cecil Rhodes.

The Selous Scouts were created in the early 1970s under the direction of a Rhodesian-born ex British SAS serviceman who fought in the Malayan conflict. He created the Scouts officially in 1974, and their mission was to infiltrate the local population and the liberation networks in then Rhodesia, and neighboring countries. Those who volunteered for the Scouts underwent such a severe selection process, that only 15% made it. Reid Daly's intention was to completely break a man in order to build him up again from scratch, according to the needs of the Selous Scouts. They wore Warsaw Pact uniforms to pass themselves off as freedom fighters, tracked the freedom fighters and their supporters, and were reportedly responsible for 68% of all freedom-fighter deaths during the independence war, even though they only numbered between 700-1000 fighters. 80% of the Scouts were African, a necessary requirement to be able to infiltrate the local populations, and the freedom fighters.

EIR spokesman Larry Freeman, on a live interview with Iranian presstv today, pointed out that a Selous Scouts-type operation is possibly behind the violence in Zimbabwe.

Soros Lackey Calls for African Union To Deploy Troops into Zimbabwe

June 24, 2008 (LPAC)--Speaking via video conference call from South Africa to a forum sponsored by the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) and Freedom House on Zimbabwe, Deprose Muchena, Soros' Open Society rep for southern Africa, called on the June 27 Africa Union Assembly meeting to use a provision in its charter to send a protective or peacekeeping troops to Zimbabwe to protect the people from the government of Zimbabwe. He also called on the United Nations Security Council to issue a resolution condemning President Robert Mugabe, and send a special envoy to work with the AU and Southern African Development Community (SADC) to force Mugabe out.

Also addressing the same Washington forum, from South Africa, Nqobzitha Mlilo, a spokesperson for the Movement for a Democratic Change, said that the MDC must be the party to constitute the new government--a Government of National Healing--which should include progressive forces from the ruling party, ZANU-PF. Mlilo said that the loser, the dictator, referring to Mugabe, should not be rewarded, contrary to what was done in Kenya. (Meaning that Kenyan President Kabaki lost and Odinga won, yet Kabaki remained President).

MDC Working With Rhodesian Selous Scout Networks to Spread Violence in Zimbabwe and South Africa

June 26, 2008 (LPAC)--The political violence in Zimbabwe that the international press dominated by the London-based Anglo-Dutch financial cartel is using to work the world into a frenzy about Zimbabwe is being carried out by networks controlled by London.

Top opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) officials are "working in cahoots with some Rhodesian elements to set up underground structures that are behind the anti-immigrant attacks in South Africa and the terror campaign in Zimbabwe," according to the Zimbabwe Sunday Times June 1. The Times reports that "Although the MDC has been claiming that its supporters have fallen victim to political violence, top party officials are allegedly recruiting young Zimbabweans in South Africa who are being deployed to cause terror in Zimbabwe." The Times said that some people are being recruited from universities in South Africa, and others are Zimbabwe National Army deserters and former policemen.

Zimbabwean sources report that the modus operandi for these forces, in Zimbabwe, is to alert the press that an atrocity has taken place, at the same time they have their operatives dress up in the regalia of the ruling Zanu-PF, and go out to commit an atrocity. The press is soon on the scene, hearing witnesses saying that the attack was carried out by Zanu people.

The Times reports that some of the recruits are quartered at a farm outside Tswane (Pretoria), and that a second group is known to be based at a farm in South Africa near Pietermaritzburg, where youths are being trained by former Rhodesian Selous Scouts.

One of the intentions of the violence carried out in Zimbabwe by the MDC-Scouts apparatus, according to the Times, was to create "refugee centres for Zimbabweans, which would force the United Nations to discuss Zimbabwe at Security Council level." The violence this force perpetrates also provides ample grist for the mill of the international press' anti-Mugabe campaign, and also puts pressure on Mbeki, who is trying to resolve the British-created Zimbabwe situation.

According to the Zimbabwe Guardian June 2, "The Selous Scouts was a special-forces regiment of Prime Minister Ian Smith's Rhodesian Army which operated from 1973-1980. The charter of the Selous Scouts directed 'the clandestine elimination of freedom fighters inside and outside the country.

Selous Scouts and Rhodesian forces, according to the Guardian, are said to have introduced the form of attack called necklacing [tieing up a person, and killing him by burning a tire placed around his neck] into South Africa. This technique was used during the transition to independence in South Africa, and again recently against immigrants, according to the Guardian. Following the dissolution of the Smith regime in 1980, the Guardian reports, many of its soldiers travelled south "to join the South African Defence Force, especially the 5 Reconnaissance Commando."

Zimbabwe; LaRouche: "The British are Committing Fraud on a Gross Level"

April 1, 2008 (LPAC)--The British are moving full steam ahead in their racist war against Africa, orchestrating a post-election destabilization of Zimbabwe, whose effects would extend far beyond its borders.

Taking the lead in this operation, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown issued a statement on the incomplete vote count, urging "that results come forward soon" as the world is watching closely, "wanting to be sure that everything is done fairly and in the right way," according to South Africa's Mail and Guardian. The Independent reports that Brown has held emergency talks with South African President Thabo Mbeki, a staunch supporter of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and of Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF party. Brown also held talks with former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, who earlier this year attempted to mediate the post-election crisis in Kenya.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband was deployed to Paris yesterday, where he met the foreign ministers of France, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. This motley group appears to be a "coalition of the willing" of the EU. The gathering was described by the EUobserver.com as an "informal meeting" of seven EU foreign ministers to discuss the Zimbabwe situation. They said, "We call on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to swiftly announce all the election results, especially the results of the presidential election. The future of the Zimbabwean people depends on the credibility and transparency of the electoral process." Sources in Zimbabwe report that the situation is calm, and people are going about their business as usual. They know that the vote count will take a few days, and are simply waiting for the results. By contrast, the British-financed opposition and international media, especially British media, are laying the groundwork for a post-election crisis. The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN), one of the British-controlled NGO's (No Good Organizations), released an unofficial vote projection claiming that opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai received 49.4 and President Mugabe 41.8 percent. The ZESN is financed by the the British government-backed Westminster Foundation for Democracy, and the U.S. National Endowment for Democracy.

Meanwhile, British media are reporting rumors that the opposition leaders have gone underground. The Independent goes so far as to claim that Tsvangirai and Simba Makoni, the third candidate, met with security officials on Sunday. They add that neither Tsvangirai nor Mugabe has been seen since Saturday, and may have left the country. Other rumors are being spread that the country's military and security chiefs are debating whether to back Mugabe, or even take power themselves. All these rumors are being spread in order to make the military intervention planned by the British and EU, more credible.

Lyndon LaRouche said today, "The British are committing fraud on a gross level internationally, and no support should be given to the British on any of these issues: China, or Africa. Because the British are the perpetrators of crime in this case, therefore they have no right to have any recognition on these matters."

British Move to Re-colonize Zimbabwe

April 3, 2008 (LPAC)--In their drive for WWIII, the British are quickly moving to try to recolonize Zimbabwe, as a key part of ongoing British destabilization operations in nearly every corner of the globe. Prime Minister Gordon Brown is reportedly ready to force on Zimbabwe the same economic "aid package" which Mugabe correctly rejected 9 years ago because its heavy conditionalities would return Zimbabwe to colonial status.

The plan is nothing less than turning Zimbabwe into a colonial "mandate" controlled by the institutions now controlled by the British Empire. According to the Guardian the one billion pound a year international package will be coordinated by the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, European Union and United Nations. It will be discussed at the IMF meeting on April 12 and 13 in Washington, at an EU general affairs council later in the month, and possibly at the margins of the NATO Summit in Bucharest.

Meanwhile an AFP wire, dated April 2, reports that British Foreign Minister David Milibrand has "expressed hope that once the situation has stabilized in Zimbabwe, the country could regain its place among the Commonwealth," an organization of 53 countries regrouping Great Britain and most of its former colonies. Milibrand is quoted as saying "I really hope, first that a new government in Zimbabwe would join the Commonwealth and second that the Commonwealth will give them a very warm accolade". Zimbabwe left the Commonwealth in 2003. Mugabe had committed himself to "never return into this damned organization" which he left in order to avoid the British "reducing his country into slavery."

BRAVO - this white dude knows more about Zimbabwe than most African Americans. But seriously, he is true and correct - Robert Mugabe is a disgrace to the African race and especially to those in his own country! I hope they kick his azz out of office and out of the country...for that matter! Disgusting.
