JOHN MCCAIN: "Second thing I wanted to talk to you about very briefly is why we lost -- why we republicans lost the 2006 election. We lost the 2006 election, not because of Iraq. We lost it because we let spending get out of control; we betrayed our base. We said that we would change government when we came to power in 1994 and government changed us. And it became corrupt. I don't use that term loosely. We have former members of congress now residing in Federal prison; that's corruption. That's corruption."
