A Convenient Truth
"There is nothing so powerful as truth." - Daniel Webster
I must first address that this interview sequence with Sequoyah Trueblood was recorded in the fall of 2005. Way before the release of Al Gore's "Incovienent Truth". What your about to hear and see is not being produced to harm or tarnish Al Gore nor Molly Olson's image. Its only provided as cultural commentary on what we all could take a look at. Our mistakes, failures and the missed opporunties. We take a look back to the years of 1993-1994 with insight by Sequoyah Trueblood and his visit along with other messengers of the North American Indigenous world. It also points to the seriousness of our situation of which Al Gore is commended on his being an outspoken messenger of our future. Mr. Thomas Berry 91 who by all accounts would be considered the Grandfather of the Eco-Sphere and a great messenger of our future, is included in this doc-short. He is referenced as "Sir Father Thomas Berry". I as a filmmaker took this only liberty to give the title "SIR" to this amazing human being. He is not a knighted individual, but in my book he is more than a Knight he is a Noble. Its unfortunate that his work is not made as popular as such films as an Incovient Truth. My hopes are that you will do your homework on finding our more about Thomas Berry and his great contribution to nature and humanity.
This same day the filmmaker was interviewing Mr. Thomas Berry, in the early summer of 2006, Al Gore appeared that night on Larry Kings CNN. As I sat in the hotel room in North Carolina, I could not help but video document this historic message being delivered by Al Gore. It is provided as an example of our own illusions and deceptions we all have faced as leaders of our own self.
We are facing something much bigger than Global Warming, the indigenous peoples have talked about this day for many thousands of years. While we might take the time to bask in the limelight of our own ego, we are faced with very serious and dire circumstances should we not heed the call of not only Al Gore, Thomas Berry and many others, but the call of all Indigenous peoples all over the world. We must search for an even bigger vision than just Global Warming. Let use not fool ourselves, we are faced with many levels of catastrophic possibilities. We must listen to them and we must use there wisdom now more than ever.
I must put great emphasis on the background sound of what seems to sound like Jets flying overhead and to have those who have the eyes to see and the ears to hear to look at what the Thunder Beings mean to the Native American Peoples. I state with all honesty that these jet type sounds are not overlaid over the video but are in fact recorded live on tape.
"Native American tradition honors the existence of Thunder Beings. These Thunder Beings are understood by Native Americans to be messengers from the powers on high, the Star People (extraterrestrial visitors). The Thunder Beings are a force for both dissolution and re-creation. In the Plains Indian tradition, a person who has a visit by a Thunder Being, in person, in vision or in dream, becomes a heyoka, a "contrary". [4] This heyoka then customarily soon starts behaving in a way opposite to the conventions of the dominant culture. The heyoka does so, precisely in order to wake up society to see that there are other and fresher ways of doing things. Thus, the heyokais the human counterpart of the Thunder Beings, who repeatedly dissolve the existing order and fashion a new arrangement from the pieces"
