John McCain
Town Hall Meeting

TRANSCRIPT:
JOHN MCCAIN: "My plan will make it easier for all small businesses to grow and create more jobs. My opponent wants to make it harder by imposing a health care mandate on small businesses that will add a crushing $12,000 to the cost of employing anyone with a family.
"That means new jobs will not be created, existing jobs will be cut and small business employees who keep their jobs will likely have their wages cut to pay for that mandate. My plan attacks the real challenges of health care: cost and [...]availability, and makes health care more portable. This is especially important to women in our work force because they change jobs more often."

What he doesn't say in this video is that his plan is to give $5000 to each family for healthcare costs and let them "negotiate" with their insurance provider. Lets think about that for a minute. This is how it usually works right now...A company takes $X from a persons wages and gives a portion from their pot of gold. Then that company negotiates with the insurance company for the lowest amount possible as this benefits them also due to their pot of gold being in the mix. What Mccain wants to do is take out the employers portion. Does anyone really believe that the insurance companies will give everyone better cheaper benefits? Has anyone had their car insurance go up lately? Does it benefit you when you buy car insurance? No, the insurance companies know you have to have insurance and they increase your insurance rates every year. They also take into account other peoples car accidents and where you live into the equation. Apply that to Mccains plan and think about how the insurance company will increase your healthcare insurance every year. Then think if you live near a retirement community or a high crime area where other peoples problems will affect your insurance costs. That is how it works.
I am an Obama fan. I have heard all of the talk about universal healthcare. It sounds like a great idea. I would like to have it. Personally I don't think we are ready for it and I think it will get shot down in congress. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea and it would make our lives better if he could pull it off. I just think that it is too much of a change for the healthcare industry and people in general.
