John McCain
Town Hall Meeting
Hudson, WI 07/11/08
TRANSCRIPT:
AUDIENCE MEMBER: "What do you think the release of 1 in 5 prisoners held at Guantanamo says about the Bush administration's ability to fight terrorism? And this could be a chance to separate yourself from Mr. Bush."
JOHN MCCAIN: "First of all, I do not believe in torture [...] but I have to say I disagree with the United States Supreme Court decision. Because I believe we have and can establish a system where these [...] most evil people in the world, can be given a trial, but they certainly don't deserve [...] the full rights of an American citizen. [...] I believe we can at least establish more procedures so that these people get a trial and a process [...] But also let me point out to you that a lot of the people who have been released have joined and again attacked the United States of America. [...]"
