U.S. Representative Steve Israel (D-NY) sits down with Jacob Soboroff of Why Tuesday? in Washington, D.C., and becomes the first member of Congress to report as a Why Tuesday? correspondent!
Rep. Israel recently introduced the Weekend Voting Act into the House in an attempt to move election day from "the Tuesday after the first Monday in November," as it has been since 1845, to Saturday and Sunday. Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) introduced the same bill into the Senate earlier this year.

All right! I'm glad to see my representative actually doing something constructive. It makes me proud to have voted for him. Wonderful idea to move the voting day.
There are so many antiquated laws that need updating. We should urge all members of congress to update laws instead of wasting so much time re-naming a park/highway or congratulating a softball/basketball team. While all well and good, it is a waste of precious time.
