The reality is we have a failure of the system and individuals combined, and it is party neutral. The FED RESERVE has too much power, and in fact many economic scholars believe that the FED's response to the Great Depression back in the '30's actually prolonged the depression, rather than get us out of it.

I have not been around here for a very long time until recently. I had no idea JE was banned, but now it all makes sense.

Like you Craig, I saw occasional glimmers of common sense with WNTW/JE (and whatever other alias suits), but always in the end the hard left position was supreme.

Its quite humorous actually. 'John-E' was banned from posting here for being abusive to other users, then came back under the alias 'Socialist-Pig' (I know, I dont get that either), then got himself thrown off again three months ago when he was rumbled, almost immediately WNTW (another strange name) appears.
I had a couple of conversations going with 'socialist pig' that got cut off. I took these debates up were we left off with WNTW, and he didn't even notice.

I dont want him thrown off though, the arguments get a bit silly with the relentless abusive namecalling, but he shows glimmers of light from time to time. And hey, who wants to have conversations with people agreeing all the time, thats boring.

America is the financial power base of the world. Oil pumps through the planets viens and flows through Wall Street in the form of petro dollars. If this power base was to stumble the whole planet would fall too its knees. We would eventually recover, but I fear by then the power would have shifted to Asia along with a new currency to trade oil in.

If you don't think that is a problem, then there will be no common ground at all. Lifelong politicians use the system for themselves, and we allow it. Corruption is the way the system works. You can't get elected without glad-handing someone, taking their money, and then owing them after you win. It's a fact. And trying to get rid of the bums(and admit it, there are legions of them), is like pulling teeth from a Great White shark. You get rid of one, and another is just laying in wait to move forward, take it's place, and take a big bite out of the ass of John Q. Public.

Your assessment of D vs R is a bit simplistic. It is not as simple as you would believe.

I guess it just coms down to what one beleives in Toole; what's at your core. There is a differenc between the parties. "Simply put" Dems are more compassionate and care about minorities and the less fortunate while the GOP cares about whites. big business and Christians. That's proven by who support the two parties.

That is what politics in this country is all about. Corruption is an inflamtory and overused word and without getting into specifics it's meaningless. There is a difference between taking cash for favors and helping a qualified relative get a job. We are one of the less corrupt governments in the world, we are a nation of laws actually and those that don't relize it haven't travelled or been exposed to the truth much.

That is it in a nutshell. Democrats and Republicans blieve in different values and hence the polarazation. It's a 50-50 country.

A truism is that by any empirical not hyperbolic means of measure, the Clinton years were good ones and the Bush years have been a disaster.
