Countdown: McCain Overplays the POW Card
Countdown with Keith Olbermann examines how McCain is overplaying the POW card.

McCain has nothing of substance to offer as a reason to vote for him to become the president of the United States. Beyond that, almost everything in his record casts doubt on his character, his intelligence, and his mental stability:
* He screwed up badly and caused a fire on the aircraft carrier Forestal that killed 132 men.
* He was part of the Keating Five (U.S. Senators) censured in the Savings and Loan scandal
* His personal morals and ethics are very suspect
* He got into the Naval Academy only through the influence of his father - an admiral, and graduated just above the bottom of his class.
* He is forever flubbing statements and making lame excuses
Consequently he constantly embellishes his five years as a POW as the reason why people should vote for him, carefully omitting much about those five years that were not admirable. He also does not explain how five years in a POW cell qualifies as the command experience he claims to have.
