TRANSCRIPT:
MITT ROMNEY: I sure was surprised that we got in there and found the infrastructure was as terrible as it was. I think the plan was that we'd be using oil to offset our costs but the oil that's coming out of Iraq right now is being used rebuild the country's infrastructure to try and stabilize it and help pay for the military and frankly we're not getting as much oil out of that place as we expected. In part because the infrastructure was so bad. When I saw infrastructure, I me, the whole pumping systems and pipelines. And of course the terrorists are very wisely, from their standpoint, been bombarding the pipelines or been bombing it so that they don't produce the kind of oil they should have produced. It's obviously massively expensive. The effort that we have in Iraq is not going to pay for itself in dollars and sense but hopefully it'll pay for itself in removing a potential safe haven for al-Qaeda and Hezbollah from which they could launch attacks against us.
