I'd call it a draw.

XTV: Please tell me you are some wannabe comedian with bad jokes. There is a draft in place only it is not a forward motion draft; it is a backdoor draft. In this backdoor draft, soldiers that signed the contracts with specific set limits they willingly agreed to give in service to this country are at the end of their promised time and want to come home. They kept their end of the bargain. The government refuses to keep its end. This is a backdoor draft.

In all this time have you never heard the term stop-lossed? This is how the government is guaranteeing its ability to default on the contracts between the government and the soldiers. They refuse to allow them to leave their post after keeping up their end of the contract they signed before joining this VOLUNTARY military. The government can't say the same.

I find it utterly amazing that the government can spend billions of dollars it doesn't have, make contracts they never intend to honor, and openly lie to the citizens of the United States without penalty. What is seriously wrong with this picture...

(the last question is rhetorical for those who will attempt to answer it using the tried and true Republican fashion of twisting words, spinning laws by taking them out of context, and propaganda pushing...)

During the entire Iraq conflict the
Americans have lost what? -3-4 thousand people?

That doesn't even come close to the number
simply missing in action for our 2 years
in the Korean War -5,500.

While during the 5 decades of 'peace'
that followed that war -several million
North Koreans -and 70,000,000 Chinese
are now known to have been killed in
the name of modernization and 'social justice'.
And its still continuing.

During the last five years alone
-40,000 human beings have been murdered
in Red China and North Korea --for their organs!
Much of this state-sponsored.

And so far this year alone 3800 people
have been killed in Mexico's 'Drug War'.

BTW many of those organs and most of those
drugs are being black-marketed to places
like Memphis and Hollywood -to keep all
those aging mediocre pop stars looking
fit and chipper so they can protest against
the 'immorality of war'.

Finally, during the entire 'War on Terror'
America hasn't even been a draft
-and that there is no draft
has never been made an issue. Right.

Peace is hell too.

Maybe even a worse, even creepier hell afterall.

And if you're sincere
about protesting the war
and oil ---give up your stupid cars and
fat-ass, sprawling, braindead lifestyles.

I have.

I served from 1967-1968 along with my two brothers...I was sold the war by my country there was 3 of us that served and one was killed and one disabled and one made it home safe. The ones that protested the war was right and are hero's too. Iraq was the same BS but most are to F***ing dumb to realize it.

Looks to me like Moore has overplayed the cheeseburger card.

Sometimes I tire of reading fiction from the low lifes on here trying to rewrite history. My Labor Day wish for you is that you find a job and become productive.

This point has been raised before but it bears repeating.
The relentlessly chanted mantra of John McCain’s campaign has been his POW experience. Ignoring, for the sake of compassion, that McCain broke under torture and like many, many other tortured POWs, gave false testimony to his captors, let’s for a moment look at the reason of his serving in Vietnam.
As is well known, McCain was a Navy pilot. What is left unstated is that, as part of his duty, McCain bombed and strafed the people of Vietnam, their roads, their hospitals, their schools, their homes. The citizenry of Vietnam were no threat to the people of the United States. (Nor was their government.) The people of Vietnam were an impoverished, Third World nation emerging from the brutal and repressive colonization by France; a colonization that stripped the country of their natural resources and denied the people self-governance, democracy and freedom.
Where, in such a vile, despicable, murderous mission as was his, is the honor or the bravery?
Doing one’s patriotic duty of service to one’s nation most emphatically does not include service to tyranny.

Michael Moore may not always make great arguments in his films (though sometimes he DOES make great arguments), and he may rely too often on humor or cleverness to make his points, but he is brave. He stands up for decency and for what should be common sense, and he stands up to people with lots of power, money and influence. He doesn't seem to be corrupted by his success. He's a great American. Michael, keep on doing what you do!
