It's a shame John that you choose to misrepresent four different points. Didn't minimize reproductive rights. Didn't suggest trading rights for solutions. Didn't cringe at either Olbermann or Moore, only at this particular video clip showing Moore mistakenly bringing up a historical comment that never occurred to underscore a point he was making, the kind of mistake Olbermann likes to take to task (Neville Chamberlain). Didn't defend Bush's remarks, rather pointed out that the media took them out of context. And didn't demean Gore's remarks, rather pointed out that the media took them out of context as well. Didn't demean Bill Clinton, rather pointed out that his ability to publicly charm many, many Americans allowed him to get away with behavior that has squashed many another political career.

Whew.

First of all, I'm suprised this clown could get his mouth off a cheesburger long enough to say anything. And on the occasions he does, he once again puts his foot where the cheesburger should be. He not only suggested women are too stupid to think for themselves, he openly says it! He cleverly hides it within a statement ( I mean they think are, I guess, just dumb or something ) a statement designed to insight a negative response? Why would anyone listen to this idiot?

It's a shame roxie that in your last paragraph you choose to minimize the meaning of reproductive rights to women. So a woman should trade the right to control her own body for a solution to the energy crisis? And Olbermann and Moore make you cringe? Like demeaning Bill Clinton and Al Gore and defending Bush remarks?

I'm a big fan of both Olbermann and Moore, but this clip made me cringe more than just a couple of times.

First, Marie Antoinette never said let them eat cake. That's one of those vignettes that's taken on mythical proportions because it makes for an interesting read. Just like the ones about HWBush and the price scanner (totally taken out of context) and AlGore and the internet/3-mile island/name your story (also totally taken out of context and misconstrued to mean something altogether different from reality). I can't tell you how disappointing it is to watch the media's left-leaning darlings become just as out-of-context as the right-wing darlings. Yuck.

Second, there most certainly are lots and lots of women voters who absolutely supported HRC because she is a woman. There is no "so stupid" about their decisions. Voters have always been and always will be drawn to candidates with whom they can identify or are just plain like-able, hence Bush as the guy you can have a beer with (stupid men voters) and Bill Clinton as the womanizer who could charm his way out of armed robbery (many adore him even when he cheats on his wife, lies, and engages in extreme word-parsing on a level that no one else could get away with).

When I was working in a battleground state this summer for the Obama campaign, I ran across an amazingly huge number of "Hillary-supporters" who knew next-to-nothing about her positions on just about everything. All they could say was that she's for women, whatever the heck that meant to them.

I'm looking forward to our getting through the laughing-about-it period about the McCain/Palin partnership. This is no joke, and yes, there are huge swathes of Americans who are absolutely stupid enough, or crazy enough, or adamant about one issue, like reproductive rights or polar bears, to be attracted to this duo even though it is clearly an alliance that would endanger the health, safety, and welfare of Americans, and would be antithetical to American democracy on many levels.

Those of us who are not that stupid or crazy or fanatic enough to weight reproductive rights over national security, affordable health care, and an actual solution to the energy crisis need to get beyond the laughing stage and recognize that the GOP ticket is one that most certainly is quite capable of winning our electoral college votes.

If this new rumour about Palin is true then it is game over.

Its early days now but I have to tell you, I thought the story about Palin going into labour in the U.S and going onto a plane to rush to Alaska to give birth was nonsence. The airline companies wont allow pregnent women on aircraft after 6 months of pregnancy.
