I would like to see some investigation into and coverage of what are the factors contributing most greatly to birth complications in Afghanistan, so that work could be done to alleviate them--are Afghan women anemic, or suffering from contracted pelvises(as was the case in Industrial Revolution era Europe), or having low immunity from multiple deficiencies, or having blood clotting disorders?
My heart goes out to these women, and I am saddened to see the US intervention which did so much to bring disorder to their country, does not try to mitigate its impact by providing simple medical care.
Nevertheless, the main reason women die in childbirth is not lack of medical care, but poor health.
