Take Australia recently: Allan Moss & Nick Moore from Macquarie bank have received record salaries of AUD$33.5 million & AUD32.9 million respectively whilst recent studies (news.ninemsn.com.au money.ninemsn.com.au are finding that home ownership is unattainable for most people in Australia.

Also consider that the Military Budget for the US is USD$532.8 Billion for 2007, whilst the Health Care system in the US is the least affordable of all ‘developed’ nations. Why does the military budget need to be so large? Italy, Australia, Japan, Turkey, the list goes on and on, the majority of the public in these countries don’t want US military instillations on their soil. So why are they there? On Defending the military bases in Okinawa (especially in the wake of the 1995 rape incident and the following protests) Donald Rumsfeld at one time would say they are their to protect Japan (from who??) and at other times they are there to keep Japan’s military in check (whilst continuing to sell millions of dollars of arms to Japan). See Chalmers Johnson’s book “Blowback” for confirmation and even more examples.

As far as I am aware, the profit amount that a company announces is not a gross amount (pre employee salary, R&D, etc) but actually the net amount after everything, including taxes. This is then paid in dividends to the share holders. So in actuality what Hilary is then suggesting, is that the share holders receive less for their shares in order to assist the more vulnerable members of the community. Again, I cant see how a moral argument can be made against that, especially when you consider how companies like Chevron, Halliburton and Exxon have profited from the war in Iraq AND the fact that chief decision makers in the war are so closely linked to these companies – such as Dick Chaney’s affiliation with Halliburton.

You have the top echelons of society in developed nations buying homes with more bedrooms than they will ever have children to fill them, more cars than they will ever drive and acquiring ever more money that they will never spend (despite their lavish lifestyles) whilst half of the worlds population live on less that $2 a day (www.globalissues.org ).

Capitalism (in its current form at least) therefore only works for a very small percentage of the world’s population (again see the global issues.org site) is acceptable for a few more and is totally unacceptable for more than half of the worlds population (the half living on less than $2 day, plus the people below the Henderson poverty line in Developed Countries plus the people in neither prior category but actually give a shit about other people)

I don’t see the problem with socialist agendas if they are government sponsored programs to assist the community. I pay tax so I want something for it. I don’t want to pay 30% of my wage and then see the government use it to break international law and invade a country that has already been crippled by 12 years of economic sanctions so above mentioned companies can post record profits! What I want (and let’s fuckin’ face it, pretty much all tax payers in countries like Canada, UK, Australia and even the US want when asked) is FREE healthcare, affordable education, decent public transport & a fair justice system, which with the amount of money that the Electorate is being taxed by our governments, are achievable goals. But in today’s capitalist and elitist society, those just aren’t the priorities of the people in power and their friends with influence.

Now Dan, I don’t have time to continue providing arguments against the Right Wing agenda, especially because there seems to be an audience of just you and me so respond if you like, but I have little interest in continuing this discussion here.

One last point, Captain. You are correct in saying that Australia, Canada and the UK are not socialist nations per se, but they do employ socialist programs such as government sponsored healthcare. What people need to see is that the socialist agenda is slowly creeping into our society, program after program. Its not an overnight change.

As for taxing business, consider for a minute you are in business and employ thousands of people and make a net profit of 7 - 9 percent. Then the government comes in and says even though your profit margin is very small, we still think you are making too much money, so we will tax you so you make 4 - 6 percent. That leave you with less money to compete, for R&D, for expansion, for salaries, etc. So you cut back and that leaves more unemployment, fewer tax dollars for Federal, State, and Local government, not only from your company, but all of your supplying companies. The net effect is LESS tax money, higher unemployment,higher prices, higher personal income tax, no money to feed that government healthcare money eating monster that Hillary wants so badly. Capitalism works, just ask the Russians and Chinese.

Clinton also launched Missile strikes against “terrorist targets” (which turned out to be civilian pharmaceutical companies) in Sudan to divert attention away from the sex scandal.
Attacks like this are what socialists like Marx and Trotsky are against, and as Hillary and Bill are still working together I cannot see how she differs from him to the point of socialism.

No Dan, what I have done is question the self postulating stance that these three right wing people have taken by either asking them to provide specifics that backs their ambiguous claims or by stating (correctly) that they are wrong in their assumptions. I also made some stereotypical assumptions (as 1. Southern Baptist has done: “you lefties are upset is because Fox has overtaken and Beaten the Far Left CNN”, 2.
