    To whom it may concern,

As a final attempt to get some answers, I have decided to contact everyone I feel should be made aware of my situation including the local media. My son, Kaleb Morrow, attends Judson High School; well he is enrolled there anyway.

October 21, I received a phone call at home letting me know my son was caught on the Kitty Hawk Campus (this is the middle school in our area) and was being sent home with a trespassing ticket. The next morning I went to school with my son to speak with Assistant Principal McCarson. At this time I was informed Kaleb had not only skipped the day before when he got his ticket but he had missed 48 classes. Being there are 4 classes a day, he had missed 12 total days. Also that morning as we were going over his truancies, the principal informed me that the athletics class doesn’t even bother to take attendance, therefore those classes he was probably truant too. During this conversation I was informed Kaleb had a chance to make up these hours by going to an after school program called J-Rock.

I asked Principal McCarson why it was that I was never informed of these absences. I told him they had my work number, cell phone number, and home number. I also informed him that at home my answering machine was in my room which had a key lock entrance and Kaleb had no access in order to erase such messages. Mr. McCarson informed me at this time the new computer systems were not communicating properly and therefore the necessary phone calls were not being made to parents. (I think we have a problem here.)

That following Friday, I finally received a warning letter from the school district informing me that there needed to be a conference. (Which I already had with the principal October 22). We sat down and had another talk with my son about his absences and the consequences of his actions. After our talk, I thought he understood, and things would straighten out after that. We went to pick up something for dinner only to find Kaleb gone when we got home. The next day I tracked him down and brought him home. Once again we had another “talk” about his actions. He told me he was “just not sure how to get himself out of the hole he dug for himself”. We talked for hours…again I thought things were fine.

The following Thursday I finally got my pin approved to get into the Judson web-site to check up on Kaleb’s absences…I found out he had missed several more days of school…once again NO PHONE CALL from the school. That night he ran away again. The next morning (Friday) I personally went to the school to inform them he was a runaway, and if he were to show up I would be right back to get him so we could try and figure things out…I went to work and took a personal day at which time I informed my boss’s what was going on in my family. It took me less than an hour to get back to the school. I entered Mr. McCarson’s office where he informed me Kaleb had been sent to class. (Sounds like a great idea considering my son had not been attending classes for some time.) I drove to the red campus spoke with the attendance lady, and went to his class only to be informed he never made it to class, and that teacher had not seen him in “over a month”. I physically went to the Converse Police department to file a run away report on my child. After a 35 min conversation with Officer Sanchez, I was informed I had to go to the Judson Police department because although he left my house the night before, he was seen at school that morning and it was up to Judson PD to file the report. I physically went to the Judson PD to file the report, where they took my information and took a copy of my Drivers License. My son did not come home. I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to find help for our family before it becomes too late. Basically I was informed that without Kaleb having a record, there was nothing the system could do for me. I have looked into boot camps, boy’s homes, and other facilities only to find out that he either has to sign himself in or I have to have thousands of dollars (I am a single parent and have never received a dime child support) or my son has to have a criminal record.

Saturday night I decided to take police officers to the homes of 2 of my son’s friends that I thought he might be. The first home was in the Bexar County district so I contacted an officer to assist me in retrieving my son. It was at this point in time I found out neither PD filed the report. I was told by the Bexar county police officer to make sure I called Converse PD and make them back date the run away report for the actual time he left my house Thursday night. My next stop that night was his girlfriend’s house (come to find out this woman had let my son stay with her the previous times he ran away.) They did not answer the door, but I later found out he was in there and the mother had taken it upon herself to go to the Universal City PD and check to see if he had actually been listed. (Just in case you have lost track…he hadn’t) Apparently they could not decide who was in charge of making sure it got filed although I live in Converse; Kaleb was supposedly seen at the school making it their problem.

The next morning I called Converse PD and insisted they file and backdate the runaway report. Five hours after the report got filed, Universal City PD called me to come and pick him up. He wasn’t home 30 minutes before he came out on the porch and tried to pick a fight with me. When I didn’t take the bait, he took off once again. I filed another run away report. Monday morning, I went to the school once again and spoke to the principal about my problem and to see if he had any ideas. I decided to go to the Superintendent’s office and see if I could get some answers there. They gave me the run around without letting me see the man in charge of their district. I was hoping to find out why I was still not being informed of my sons continuous absences. I was sent home and told some one would be calling me that afternoon. Around 4:00pm, I called the district offices to find out why I had not been contacted. I was told the problem was being looked into. I once again spent the day on the phone trying to find some kind of agency to help me. I still was getting the same answer…there was no one to help me unless I had money or my son became a criminal.

The next night the police once again brought him home and informed me my son has called CPS. He claimed child abuse amongst other things. (The case has been dropped.) The next morning I took Kaleb to school and spoke with Mr. McCarson and this time the counselor Mr. Clark was invited into the conversation. They both tried to get my son to talk and he just sat there. Neither one had any answers for me. They basically told me there were over 3000 students on the gray campus and my son was not the only one with problems. I left once again without any suggestions or ideas to help us get back on track.

They escorted Kaleb to ISS for the day. I went to work only to get a phone call stating Kaleb had ran away from the school campus….Right from under the police officer’s nose. The next morning I went back to the Judson campus to speak with Officer Mark Olivarez he told me I should gather all the information I had and go to the Juvenile Justice Center and speak to a probation officer about getting Kaleb charged with CHINS (Children in Need of Supervision), I was informed to have his trespassing charge expedited and when I got to court ask the Judge to refer him to the Juvenile Justice court in order to get him in their system so we could proceed with having him charged with CHINS. I did this, the original court date was December 2, 2005 but I was able to get it moved up to October 25, 2005. I went to court only to have the door slammed in my face by Judge Baker Pct. 3. He assessed a fine (no surprise) and told me my son was not delinquent enough to refer him to the Juvenile courts. This was my last hope; I was really expecting to get some help. Instead I was once again sent away and left to deal with this out of control teenager.

My son is home and has not run away in almost a week (probably due to his broken toe, he broke it running from police chasing him for being truant.), but he continues to not go to school, and continues to disrespect and disobey me. Today November 7, 2005, at work I get a phone call from Bexar County stating that my son was hit in the eye with a paintball (while he was supposed to be in school) and I needed to pick him up from school where they were going to drop him off. I asked (like many times before) that he be taken to juvenile hall and once again was informed that he wasn’t doing anything criminal therefore they by law could not take him to the facility. At this point I am wondering if my son had to become a hardened criminal in order to get some help. I called Officer Olivarez (Judson Police Officer) and ask him what I should do he told me he would make some phone calls and get back with me. Needless to say he never called. I guess it was too close to his getting off work time to be bothered.

Please help me get some help, and answers. I feel that if I had been informed of the truancies when this first began on August 26th instead of things getting so out of hand and the first I heard about it being October 12, 2005, I may have had a chance of turning him around. I, like most single parents have to work for a living. Doesn’t the school have some responsibility to keep my 15 year old within their walls if I get him there? I have many times dropped him off at school or watched to make sure he gets on the bus and had him picked up from the school grounds only to find out he missed classes and even whole days. Sometime before October 12, 2005, Kaleb was kicked off the football team due to excessive absences, the coach apparently didn’t feel it important enough to call me and make me aware of the situation. I had no idea this happened, we were still picking him up everyday “after football practice”.

California Assemblyman Gene Mullin is on the right track about Arnold. Check out Salon.com 's story of 2/15/05
By Peter Byrne "The truth about Arnold". It would seem that the press is finally taking a look at California's Governor as an elected official and not a movie star. Hopefully they will start reporting on every thing he is doing and who it benefits without being blinded by the flashes of the cameras and his make up crew.

How about an advocacy video on teachers in Calif? The Governator wants their salaries tied to "Merit Pay" based on student achievement. How are inner city teachers (with their students from impoverished homes, no parental involvement, gang pressures) supposed to compete with teachers in schools in wealthy neighborhoods (lots of money for tutoring, lots of parental involvement, etc)? In my opinion, teachers in economically depressed areas deserve extra pay just for showing up and making an effort to teach, against all odds.

Teachers are trying to educate the future citizens of our country in untenable circumstances: inadequate funding, pressure from the state and federal govts. to meet arbitrary goals, pressure from parents who expect teachers to work miracles with their neglected/spoiled children. I can't imagine why anyone in his/her right mind would go into teaching today, and soon enough, no one will. We have (yet another) real crisis looming - a shortage of qualified, dedicated teachers.

Dear Robert and anyone who was singed by my completely inappropriate irate spewing last night. I am an idiot. I complained about even being contacted by RG - I'm sorry.
I might love this blog coming about!!

I had been waiting like a predator to see what Peter Jennings would do with all that TRUST he's been developing, subject last night:UFOs. Oh, he was professional, sort of "you decide" kind of exposition, but the music score was horror-show forboding, a Russ Landau rip-off (Survivor) and I was absolutely furious. So cheap - so vampiric of Jennings to suck the balance of info away with scary music.

    Frustration - temporary insanity.

    My sincere apologies!

re: naming your new media company - how about WHAT'S LEFT?
  • Robert and his blogger;
I just posted this to the DCCC blog, then got the ne4ws about this blog. There is no one better qualified to take this idea and make it real. At least roll the idea around a bit.

We need the DCCC and their website to organize the resources, to produce a weekly national infomercial, with the truth well defined to counter the lie, just like we do on the blog.

Make it multimedia, (TV/Radio and webcast) and put it on a DVD/vhs and send it to people who want to order it, too.

    Sound extravagant?

We raised 50 million bucks for Howard in a couple months, surely we can put together the resources to produce a weekly one-hour spot, and who cares if Fox won't show it.

As long as it gets on the air, it will be watched. Actually the more channels that refuse to air it, the more publicity we have for the show.

As upcoming congressional races get shaken down to the final few, we can use the weekly slot to keep the public informed.

We could even make it funny, along with informative, with some Hollywood type stars involved, so people would talk it up and get more viewers from to tune in every week.

What "The Boss" did for us in the last election shouldn't be a rare event. It doesn't have to be Bruce Springsteen every week, 'course we all know there's lota famous people who wish they had a political voice, singing or speaking, and they would lend a free hand to the infomercial, to keep the crowds tuned in.

    We need media.

    On our terms.

    It is time for action.

Welcome to the blog world. I have been working full time as a volunteer -- sometimes 60 hours per week -- since September 2003. This is an entirely new role for me -- Bush Incorporated scares me more than all the terrorists combined. I recently have been asked to chair a working group for the Clark County, Nevada Democratic Party to develop a grassroots structure for the County. Our modest goal is to have 5,000 committed progressive volunteers working through the county party trained and ready a few months before the 2006 elections. Before then we hope to elect Democrats in "nonpartisan" elections for municipal offices.

I would like to suggest a powerful, and rather nasty, video to expose the real agenda of the Bushites. I envision a staircase built with coffins draped in American Flags, ascending into the sky. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice are walking up the stairs (or perhaps riding horses, as the four horsemen of the apocalypse), while a choir sings, "We are climbing, higher, higher... Soldiers of the Cross." Background could show a devastated Earth providing the foundation for the stairs.

Just a thought -- even if you produced it I don't know how we could get people to see it. But I'll bet it would have great impact on those who did!

Thank you for all you are doing.

But of course you had to start a blog!
So glad you did. "Outfoxed" shatters the loathesome, numbing hypnosis of Faux New and MSM.
Like the scene from the The Christmas Carol when Marley 'rattles his chainboxes' wildly at Scrooge howling: "Mankind is my business, now!"
  • Another quickie...I never saw 'Repug' before
    but liked another too..'Thug-licans' (DeLay
    archetypical)
  • Mr. Greenwald...
    Good show!
I am without much discretionary income (Social Security, under the poverty level, senior and all the rest of the whine) and have committed to Howard Dean's DFA but I will buy every DVD you produce (ashamed to admit I saw F911 as a pirate... Michael didn't seem to mind).
I blog with RSS and look forward to finding you there. Use above e-mail instead of hast1@...
    Best of luck....j

Yes. Your videos/documentaries are very accurate. So are the voices I hear on Air America and the well researched books avaliable in our local bookstores. The many progressive magazines and alternative newspapers keep us WELL informed also. HOWEVER THE REPUBLICANS AREN"T WORRIED ! Why ? You know why. They control the voting machines ! They re-district in their favor. They confuse and deceive us folks AT the polls . The Republicans have the Democrats doing their begging for them at the end of the organ grinders chain. Only a Luke Skywalker and his Knights somehow MAY be able to rid us of this takeover of our Republic and give us back our nation.
  • page gardner
Congrats on all. I hope that you "don't forget the ladies" as one of our "founding mothers" said. unmarried wome are the most progressive demographic in this country and serve as our base of support in terms of causes. we need to keept them involved and activated (we saw in the 2004 elections that if you reach out to them to register and vote they will). Women's Voices helped to increase the share of women on their own registering and voting by 3% pionts from 20004. In a high turnout election, that is unprecedented. They are concerned about economic issues, health care, social security and, when given a chance, they will make their voices heard.
    Onward and upward Robert..Good luck.
  • Hi Robert!
Welcome to the blogosphere. Outfoxed is amazing, and now I want to see more of the other work. My knees won't let me play beach volleyball anymore... so I have to send all my volleys to the media madhouse!! Still chirping here, boss. Stay loud!

Ditto Don Hazen...There is only one Robert Greenwald the Magnificent and now Blogger among Bloggers.
I had simply refused to believe my daughter Anna when she told me that Robert Greenwald had a blog; I was sure she was pulling my leg, as she is prone to do. Now I will check in daily, if I have any time after working on my own blog (www.formgreen.blogspot.com)
[full disclosure: I am Robert Greenwald's sister-in-law and one of his biggest fans. Anna is his niece and also a fan. ] I remember Robert from the old days when he barely had e-mail. Welcome to the Blogosphere.
Readers...please visit www.outsantorum.org...i am from PA and we have one of the most horrendous senators in the govt and we're looking to unseat him in 2006.

  • Welcome to the Blogosphere. I just bookmarked your blog. May your posts be many and the Freepers be few.

Please, keep doing what you have started. We need anyone who can articulate what the true majority of Americans believe. We need all the help we can get with this repug media juggernaut that is saturating the public without any real opposition. I hoped that CNN would be our savior but, I have lost hope. The way the Dems or bending over for the repugs as in your above artical brings on more dispare. I do not know what happen to the time when people voted for what is the right thing and not what they think will get them the most votes. I think we are in for very dark times but for the very few like you who or shouting from the darkness that has befallen our country.
  • Hello my friend, and welcome to the blogosphere!
  • Welcome, robert. I hope this doesn't take over your real life - it's been known to happen. ;-)

bob beckel never figured out how to post on his blog either

he was saved from a life living in a box when Cal Thomas got him a job at FOX NEWS.

Congratulations on the launch of your blog. Keep up the good fight exposing the assholes - and maybe, one day, enough people will see the light to reclaim a government of, by, and for, the people as the Founding Fathers intended.
  • Good for you, blogging is very inexpensive, unless you're serving video to a whole lot of people, and some hosts won't charge you for that, either.
