War on Greed: Rev. Yearwood on MLK’s dream

Rev. Lennox Yearwood from the Hip Hop Caucus:

40 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. died so all of us could have human dignity and equality here in America.  He died to bridge the divide between the rich and the poor.  He died so white and black could all come together, so we could all have human dignity.  He understood that economic rights were at the core of the fabric of human dignity. 

As we fast forward to the 21st century, multi-billionaire wall street tycoons like Henry Kravis and companies like KKR are causing that dream to become a nightmare.

    Critics of the Progressive Movement claim they embrace the value of our nation’s founders, when in fact their ideology and actions very often contradict those values. I view the preamble to the U.S. constitution, which follows, as mission statement for Our Nation:

    We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

    Presidential candidates, in the context of the preamble, can you look the American people in the eye and justify the continuation of the buyout industry's tax loopholes; especially in terms of establishing justice, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to our posterity.

    Buyout industry's tax loopholes are is just one of many forms of negative competitions which have accelerating the economic decline of America in recent years. Taken as a whole I view these practices of negative competitions as “Weapons of Economic Destruction”.
