HAS THIS WAR AFECTED THE u.s.a...its scary seeing thr prices go so high for basic things like Milk & Gas and the news covering laTeSt EcOnOmY CriSiS!!!!!!! Its the end of BUSH and Mccain is not What we need. He goes by the same guidelines and wants the WAR to keep going. IN 60 MINUTES he was quick to speak about us defending GEORGIA against RUSSIA. We have to worry about our land before others..... We have to take care of the ECONOMY and Enviroment. Its OUR LIFE. Obama is a risk. But, hes in tune with simple people. I need taxes to be left alone for me & NO i would"nt mind taxes raised on incomes more than $250,000 a year.People need to be safe, think wisely and PAY ATTENCION.
P.S Mccain is 72 and and if he gets a heart attack PAILIN as president? ((??!??))

Dodging Distractions in This Election
Yes, SNL's piece was truly brilliant. I have missed this sort of political humor over recent years. We had some real doozies in the "olden days" and I loved it. It's healthy when we can see serious issues, such as sexism, through humor.
However, I am surely ready to get off this digression into personality politics and back to the issues, which are worsening daily. Frankly, with two intractable wars, diminishing quality of the air around our only planet, and now an economy teetering on a frightening brink, we may be already sunk.
For example, having gleaned all the bucks they can from housing, the big financiers are all now loading the taxpayers with the burden of their multi-billion dollar debts (Bear-Stearn (sp?), Fannie May, Freddie Mac, perhaps Lehman, and then who else?). How could any president avoid a tax increase if the Fed has to save our economy from all these mega-billion market failures at once?
Bottom line, on the issues, we are in deep DooDoo. We need leadership who can work on the economy, shore up our relations with other countries (who now literally own us), get us back to work somehow on a scientific basis for addressing global warming, and reinstituting financial and accounting standards on an increasingly failing free enterprise system, not to mention create more jobs and health care and energy independence and education: A democracy cannot function with dumbed-down citizens.
Then, we are supposed to be a Nation Of Laws, but legal principles extant since the Magna Carta have been abandoned. The Presidency has deemed itself above the law. And lawyers who helped them are entrenched deep throughout the legal system. We must finally address our use of torture, with the world watching.
Cynical politicos employ diversionary tactics to shift our attention to personalities and hot button stuff like gay marriages and the finer points of conception. Thus diverted, we neglect our core survival concerns as a country, while a very few become obscenely wealthy. We cannot allow ourselves to be taken off topic like that, no matter how strongly one holds opinion on such things. We've got to get back to the basics of "running the railroad" before it gets completely off track.
God really needs to Bless America if we are to dig out of this one.

John McCain scares the Democrats! They know he was the only Republican candidate that can and will beat them. Shame on Rush Limbaugh and the Republican establishment for their attacks of such a high integrity man as John McCain. He is the real deal, a fiscal conservative that even out does Barry Goldwater. The politicians in Washington both Democrat and Republican are scared to death of John because they know he will not be a big spender and that all their earmarks and special interest money will be gone!! God Bless John McCain!!

Hey synthetic Sound Dude: I don't believe in either God or Satan. I'm Buddhist and I believe in Peace, goodness of humanity, evil in the form of veiled or distorted thinking and Karma. For someone like me, a law abiding, compassionate loving individual who does much community service, fighing for the rights of animals, and the environment, I find it offensive for someone like you to accuse me of being evil or in alignment w satan. Do you care how offensive you are to those with differing beliefs? This country was supposedly founded on religious freedom, yet your perspective shoves your belief down my throat and tries to force us to live according to your beliefs. They are your beliefs not mine. And even if Obama was a Muslim, which he is not, Islam is about love of God and Family. Its the extremest distortionist that are dangerous, very similar to the extremest distortionists in the Christian Right. In a free country, even if Obama was a Muslim, it shouldn't matter. What should matter is his character, which has repeatedly been shown to be much more admirable than the sleezy John McCain. Might I remind you he was part of the Original Keating 5 and that he had an adulterous affair with Cindy McCain before she became his wife....and that was after several other affairs with subordinates....and why does he need to lie in all these adds? Where are your christian values in this? or are they part and parcel with hipocracy?

Obama has repeatedly kept to the High Ground running a clean & serious campaign on issues.
McCain having nothing to offer the American people, but the same old Bush policies, choose instead to run a dirty campaign, by bombarding Obama with nasty and false ads.
McCain who claimed he will tell the truth always, has been caught lying on all his defamatory ads. A Straight Talker he is not ... more of a Double-Talker, with no moral integity or values. This is no longer the war hero or the Maverick of 40 years ago. This is the old man who would like to crown his ambitious goal, with the presidency ... at all costs.
Being tied in with muslems is worse than being NAZI's ?? I see your point but common man get real.
To Dan: You really think that the president determines the tax rate. Get real!!
To Papa: You really think there is a difference between John McCananite and Barack Obaminator. Common man get real!!
The rest of you people are such nut jobs that base their opinions on half baked truth and "information" that similar to the previous addresssees will be unceremoniously slaughtered by Satan's administrators because youb have all succumbed to the false God.

The republican(t)s are running this country into the ground and have put us into debt so deep we may never get out. And the Iraq BS keeps coming out of their mouths. How could anyone with at least half a brain even think of voting for this GOP goober. It's an obvious choice. I'm voting for the half white candidate. He has more brain cells in his little finger than McSame has in his senile head.
Travis
Dude do you REALLY believe that Obama's tied to Islamic terrorists? READ SOMETHING STOP LISTENING TO SOME RETARD WITH A BIBLE IN HIS POCKET AT THE WATER COOLER!!!! Just realize people: McCain is the SAME as Bush, he's got money in the same companies- same friends- same ideas DON'T BE STUPID
darrell york
I think Obama is tied in with the moslems, and that kinda scares me. However Mcain is just more of the same, so I don't know who to vote for..
Papa
If someone says support McCain, they are saying vote for the status quo. The same corporate greed and fleecing of Americans that we've had for the last 8 years.
McCain, is a Vet who votes against vets. a vote for the GOP is a vote for America ruin
Ali
Anybody who is foolish enough to support John McCain deserves what they get. This country is a mess after 7 years of republican rule. Electing McCain will spell doom. My family is spending 1000 a month on health insurance!!! John McCain thinks there is nothing wrong with the health care system in the US. The repbulican party does not protect the people or the consumer. They protect corporate America. Only ignorant fools vote republican.

FEWER jobs. Not LESS. Study up on your grammar.
I agree with you, though. Bush is a war criminal, and McCain is no different.

McCain is a great war hero but that doesn't mean he would be a great president. In a way, I feel sorry that a basically good man fell in with the NEOCON cabal. I really think that deep down inside, he's better than that. Unfortunately, he's way over his head in perhaps the most important presidential election of the century.
Mark
Hey Matt Judkin - Wow! Thanks for the heads up on how both the Democrats and Republicans are scared of McCain, because last I knew McCain had been endorsed by the Republican President of the United States, you know, George W. Bush? I know in my heart you're not an ignoramus; better luck next time...
Matt Judkin
John McCain is a great man!! Both progressives and Conservatives are in agreement he has integrity and honor. So to read the bashing is gross!! The war may have been wrong blah blah blah.... yes we ALL want it to end. But it is DONE, right or wrong we are there, and McCain is right we cannot cut and run. I love it the ultra Left and the ultra right hate McCain. Now for certain I know he is the man for the job. John McCain scares the Democrats and Republicans! The politicians in Washington both Democrat and Republican are scared to death of John because they know he will not be a big spender and that all their earmarks and special interest money will be gone!! McCain 2008!

Republicans are Nazi's. When I see them this August at the county fair, I'm going to kick their asses. Everyone should beat up a Republican.

McCain is a lunitic, plain and simple. Besides that, for a good comparison between Ron Paul and McCain plus the two Democrat knuckleheads go to: www.sfshoppingnews.com Click on the top ad to enlarge.

John McCain is the real deal.
He has support from the middle, the independents. No one has ever won with just support from the far left or the far right. John will get the conservatives sooner or later because they won't vote for a extreme liberal like Obama/Hillary. The middle and Indep will go to McCain... Obama will go down as nothing more then a great speaker...
Patrick
John McCain is a joke, a sloppily construed aesthetic of a man that Corporate America has manufactured in hopes that the American public will rally around his facade. Some buy into it (like MJ below) and some don't. The simplest fact of the matter at hand is that personal good is relative (and easily manipulated), but collective good is the equilibrium we seek to realize by electing representatives. A person opting to represent others who brazenly declares that there will be more and more war -regardless of whether or not they are elected themselves- is not seeking the equilibrium of the collective good, but is campaigning to alter your perception of both personal- and collective good.

If right-wing political supporters don't like what Bravenewfilms has to say, why do they watch these videos? I think the war in Iraq is terrible. Why the h*ll are we over there in the first place. My opinion is that we're still there, even though Saddam has been dealt with, to protect the interests of RICH oil industry people like Bush. The only people who matter here in the USA are RICH WHITE PROTESTANT males. The working poor, seniors, and disabled people be damned.

Credit for this reply actually goes to my husband: it would have been more believable if the voice on the phone was a non-native English speaker, since our call centers are all outsourced overseas anyway.
And I agree, we need to hear Barack and Hillary commenting on this, that's the whole point of getting these videos out there, isn't it? No, neither of them has committed to bring the troops home before 2013, but you know what you lame-brain Paul supporters, there's a reason for that - it's not ENTIRELY up to ONE PERSON when the troops come home, there are myrid factors involved and only an idiot would promise a deadline that could be thrown in their face later if other circumstances make that deadline impossible (such as, oh, Bin Laden actually deciding Iraq looks like a good place to actually set up since we're pulling out? Or another group doing similar?) Creating a power vacuum that is filled by REAL enemies of the US because life just isn't worth living in the conditions we've created there already is NOT in our best interests. But they ned to be doing their OWN stabilizing, we need to be stepping back not pulling out.
The immediate pull-out method is as bad an idea as a military strategy as it is a pregnancy-prevention strategy.
I used to like Brave New Films, now I realize their true intentions have always been to bash Republicans, not to give a voice to Americans.
This video needs to be directed at Obama and Clinton also. NEITHER of them have said they would bring the troops home BEFORE 2013 (the end of their 1st term as president, if either should be elected).
Brave New Films should have started campaigning for Ron Paul a LONG time ago. However, the truth is, Brave New Films does NOT want to end the war, they only want to bash Republicans.
I wonder if that will really take place. FYI, I never supported the war in Iraq to begin with. Let's hope we can get a Democratic president with sense enough to get us out of Iraq and keep us out of more uneccessary wars.

Please preview the sound tracks for older viewers.
Older ears do not separate voice from background noise as well as younger ears.
For example phone noises walk on the voice of the govenement phone rep. His voice trails off, some words are lost.
Please do not be like many movie producers these days who think footsteps, door closings, traffic noises that step on the dailogue is cool. It is not.
Do you want to engage older people or do you not?
Thanks for all you good work.

I thought about the 'Less - Fewer' issue-- For me in this case the usage works - the reference is really to 'employment' so 'less' is correct - But 'employment' would be too serious for this ironic title... It is poetic license -this is art!

These two videos attempt to focus on the pocketbook factor. I applaud your efforts and your excellent presentation techniques, but these war cost videos are unlikely to have the full intended impact. The reason is because nobody has been paying the $275 per month (or the $16,000 to date). No one is actually feeling that pain. As you know, the Bush administration has been borrowing the money to fund its Iraq oil war. I believe this is by design ... so that the general public feels no economic consequences of the Iraq war (for the time being) which precludes the pocketbook factor from becoming an issue that would cause many more people to strenuously object to that unjustifiable war. Perhaps your two videos should focus on the staggering war debt that we, or our children, are going to have to repay to China and other countries, plus an enormous amount of interest, after Bush is no longer in office.
