Attacking Sotomayor: Race to the Bottom

As NYU School of Law Professor Kenji Yoshino noted when he declared his support for Sonia Sotomayor in The Nation’s forum “Following Souter,” President Obama’s nominee for Supreme Court Justice “is a judge’s judge” who “would be a great successor to a great justice.” That has not stopped the conservative pundits–never the best judges of character or intelligence (eg: Bush, George W.)–from attacking the eminently qualified Sotomayor. Media Matters has assembled a collection of the right’s most unhinged, delusional reactions to her nomination.

Clever way of trying to put the monkey on my back, Mr. Simple but, as you stated in your rather simple Socialist spin, " if something is true, then it is true ".
Maybe you could point out the particular words in her statement that would suggest the racist statement was something other than racist? Racism word are racist words, no matter who's saying them. That Mr. Simple, is part of that truism your talking about.
I particularly like your last paragraph, were you suggest making a personal attack on me in an attempt to move the focus from Ms. Sotomayor's racist statement and put the focus on me. That points out the fact that you have nothing substantial to say in defense of Ms. Sotomayor's racist statement. I also noticed that you chose to completely ignore her dismal legal reasoning as a judge? Or, was that what you were doing when you chose to concentrate on her racist statement?

You think that me pointing out your childish "Mr Simple" thing is a distraction?... grow up TC, I am trying to help you from looking like just another internet troll.

    ---------------------------------

As a casual observer from outside the American bubble I am aware of things that you guys cant see just as you could no dought see things about Britain that I am to close to notice... for example, you guys are to quick to pidgeon hole each other with nonsensicle lables like "racist", what she said was not infact racist just as Pat Buchanon is not racist for what he says.

Your argument above about closing the debate down with distractions is EXACTLY what the right wing is trying to do with Sotomayor's veting process... why cant you see that?

Suckered in, Mr. Simple? Depends are your point of view doesn't it? She said, what she said, and every part of that statement was racist in nature, whether you want to admit it or not. The Socialist Liberals would have us believe that if a WHITE-MAN, had made a similar statement, it most certainly would be grossly racist and deserving of censure but, if a Latino woman says it, it's merely a truism?!! Mr. Simple, Sophist BS, is BS, no matter how you spin it.
Putting her obvious racism aside, I think a firm grasp of legal reasoning, and application should be the prerequisite required for this job. An area Ms. Sotomayor is sadly lacking in. When the Supreme Court is overturning 60% of decisions she's involved in, there's something wrong!! This woman was picked to satisfy Hispanic, and womans groups, groups Obimbo owes. Instead of pacifying special interest groups, why didn't Obimbo pick the person most qualified regardless of race or gender?
No Mr. Simple, I think the people being suckered are the people who would believe that racist statement are just fine if there made by Socialist Liberals! You, and people like you, have been fed a constant diet of Socialist BS for so long, you actually believe it! Very sad, Mr. Simple, very sad.

no... if something is true then it is true and people should be applauded for being honest, just as I applaud Ron Paul and Pat Buchanan, because these guys are honest... racism is a different thing altogether.

You know this woman is at the receiving end of a blizgreig, but you have made your mind up already. While I question everything I hear, you parrot everything. Do you think these folks on the right are trying to be objective? These people are trying to destroy her with anything that they can get their hands on. A lifetime of work is being miticulasly analysed for anything, any humor badly delivored, any words spoken in anger, any view that counters the mainstream, anything to beat this woman to death with.

No one is impervious to such tactics, tactics that are tried and tested on every adversory of the right who doesn't play the game... you are a sucker TC, how can you fall for this crap over and over and over and at the deprevent of your own interests?

p.s do you realise how easy it would be for me to call you names? I dont, because to be honest with you, I dont understand what you get out of it. Remember the last guy that used to do it on these pages?... how clever did he look? but if you want to look like a 12 year old, then carry on.

You know, I have been observing this latest "seek and destroy at all costs" campain, and to me it seems that surely the right wing are hurting themselves by being so blatently ubsurd. But sadly it seems that some are suckerd in.

She is not a racist TC, I have seen others wrongly call you that for much much less, so I thought you of all people would know better. Nice to see that you have made your mind up after just 48 hours of watching FOX though... though lets face it, you made your mind up as soon as you saw her didn't you?

So her remark about white guy's wasn't racist? It seems to me that at the end of the day, a white guy, and a Latino women, should reach the same legal conclusion! How about her Appellate Court decision in the firefighter reverse racism case? That wasn't racist either?
How about her dismal record of Appellate Court decision reversals by the Supreme Court? A 60% reversal percentage? I could understand anything under 5% but, 60% is ridiculous. If she cannot apply the correct legal thinking to her Appellate Court decisions, what would make us believe she would do any better on the highest court in the land? Or, is that objective Obimbo is looking for?
