I'm on the bandwagon.
I've flirted back and forth with the "top tier" candidates as the media calls them, but only recently have I become excited about a candidate, and it's Chris Dodd.
Apparently, I was a fan of his even before I realized it. The Family Medical Leave plan was very important to me after my father passed away and my mother became ill. It really made a difficult time much easier. He was author of it, and worked tirelessly to make sure it was enacted.
His call for a American Community Initiative makes me proud. It's something I've always thought would improve the American experience immensely- giving back and expanding our horizons in and beyond the U.S.
While I may not be as funny as Jesus General or as smart as wmtriallawyer (both on the bandwagon also), I agree with them on the many reasons they support Senator Dodd, not the least of them being he is a man willing to stand up for the Constitution, and in the big picture, our country.
Those are just some of the less "sexy" things that attract me to his candidacy- as Scarecrow says, Dodd Leads; Obama and Clinton Follow, Sort Of.
The reason I'm saying this today, is that if you're interested in finding out more about Senator Dodd, you will have multiple opportunities- he is on Meet The Press this morning, and twice on C-Span talking about his book-
Sunday at 12:00 PM, and Sunday at 8:00 PM
Letters from Nuremberg: My Father's Narrative of a Quest for Justice
Author: Sen. Chris Dodd
Oh, and my previous favorite presidential candidate really likes Dodd also.
Video is of Senator Dodd on the floor of the Senate talking about the Constitution and Rule of Law. Text of the speech here.
