Yes, the Scarlett call was unexpected, a moment of pleasant pause as she purred into my ear.
Oh, to be young again... It's a shame that youth is wasted on the young.
By the way, pardon my skepticism below. I saw an advance screening of an HBO movie last night, called "Recount." It is about the 2000 presidential election, and the political and legal machinations behind the Florida recount.
Republicans know that every vote counts -- especially, and most importantly, the ones they can exclude. They can't win by sheer numbers, so they must win by other stratagems. (No doubt, they would love to see Hillary as the nominee. She is a known quantity. In their minds, they know how to run against and beat her.)
I sometimes wonder if more people voted... if it was easier to vote (national holiday, or whatever)... how drastically different the outcome would be? I don't blame politicians, third party candidates, or whomever. I blame ourselves, as voters, who don't bother to show up to the polls.. and, as citizens, who don't bother to demand & implement election reform.
The burden is on us to be vigilant, to take ownership of the process, and to get out the vote. Political scheming will be overwhelmed by our numbers. The power always lies with the people, if we organize and stand up.
